"I had Geisler Electric come out to my home a few months ago to repair my electric meter. They were prompt, efficient, and did a great job. Today was not the same. I had Geisler come to her house to fix a few light fixtures, in the bathroom , kitchen and carport. They claimed the carport light was an easy fix. The carport light stopped working shortly after they left. It has to be jiggled in just the right way to come on for a while, which is not safe and should not have to be that way. This obviously was not fixed. All that was done in the kitchen was a lightbulb replacement. They told me the lightbulb I had in there was the problem. That may be correct, but they did not spend one whole hour in my home that I was billed for. In my bathroom, the light had stopped working completely, The electricians said I just needed a new light fixture even though the wiring in my house is about 60 years old. I had a new light fixture in my house and looked around for it, and did not know where it was. As I was searching, they told me they could go pick one up at Ace Hardware real quick. I still kept searching for it, but one of them seemed in a hurry to just go buy it. I felt on the spot and I guess I made the wrong choice. When asked what type of fixture I wanted, I said basic, cheap. Because I also had work on my mind, I neglected to ask what it would cost me for them to pick it up at the store. I live in Junction City , Ace hardware is about 8 minutes from my home , they were gone much longer than need be, and I wondered why it took them so long. I wish I would have asked. I do not believe they chose the cheapest because my billing statement showed $80, plus I was charged a large fee for them to pick it up. In summary they did virtually nothing to the carport light, changed a lightbulb, and spent way too long to get the light fixture. This comes to $385? I feel I was taken advantage of due to my situation. I am low income and I am sure by looking at my home they could see."

The modern suburban and small town home of today has become an ideal lightning target. The home owner would do well to recognize lightning for the destructive force that it is and protect against this major life and fire hazard. Donohue's Lightning Rods is based in Missouri, near the factory where most of the residential and commercial lightning rod supplies are manufactured. Jim travels regularly to Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and New York. Call today to find out when Jim will be in your area. For installations outside Missouri, Kansas, or Texas, Jim waits until there are a few customers lined up, thus being able to provide the same quality services at affordable prices. **WE DO NOT DO ELECTRICAL SERVICES.** (ONLY LIGHTNING RODS)

"The job was beautifully and professionally done. I have a zero scape yard and the gentleman was concerned about disturbing the gravel when putting the rod into the ground. WOW!!!!"

Doorbell Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, modular homes are typically safe for areas prone to hurricanes. In regions at risk of severe storms, local zoning guidelines often require that these dwellings be built using materials designed to endure strong winds and heavy rainfall, ensuring they meet the safety standards for such conditions.

You can install a storm door on almost any door. Storm doors are designed to fit single exterior door frames. Whether a specific door fits into an existing frame depends on the frame's size and configuration. Patio and sliding doors are exceptions, as some aren’t designed to accommodate storm doors. A local door installer may be able to modify a frame to fit a storm door.

Homes need solid construction to survive a hurricane, including these parts:

  • A secure foundation at the right elevation for your home’s flood threat level

  • Hurricane straps to secure your home’s foundation

  • Waterproof basement sealant or rubberized sheeting that directs water away from the foundation

  • A strong, well-attached roof that’s firmly secured to the framing

  • Shutters or roll-down window protectors that you can close outside to prevent broken windows

  • A garage door bracing system to keep high winds from caving in or tearing off the door

  • Deadbolts to keep your exterior doors in place against wind pressure and floodwater

Storm doors provide an additional barrier for your main entryway and offer several features that can help deter intruders. Many models have glass panels, which let you see who’s outside without opening the door, and others come with their own locks, creating an extra layer of security. For the highest level of protection, it’s best to combine storm and security doors, security cameras, and alarm systems.

No, a storm door should not replace a regular door. It lacks the durability, insulation, and security of a proper exterior door. Most storm doors have lightweight frames and minimal locking hardware, and they aren’t meant to stand alone. While they work well as a backup to your main entry door, relying on one as your only barrier would likely lead to drafts, higher energy bills, and safety concerns.
