Removal and haul away, installation, repairs. Whether it be carpet, vinyl, tile, vct, linoleum, I’ve worked my way through the ropes starting at Lowe’s to familiarize myself with the process. I moved to a warehouse that was a 30 year veteran and practically had every apartment, multi family housing and still served residential customers. While working at the warehouse I established relations with many of the installers across Wichita,Ks and the surrounding area as well as Tulsa, Ok and the surrounding. I have been so lucky to have an installer as a step father so you could say I was sort of predestined to be your floors best friend. My brother has been working in the hardwood industry refinishing and resurfacing while he’s not busy with his Youth ministries duty. I would be happy to make your floors Phil-good.

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Whether or not transition pieces go under the baseboard depends on a few different factors. If the transitions are being installed with the flooring and before the baseboards, then they will go under the baseboards. If the baseboards are already installed, then it depends on whether or not you want to remove them or undercut them. If not, the transition pieces can butt up against the baseboard.

It all depends on what you’re looking for in a floor. Cork flooring is certainly softer and more sound-absorbing than hardwood floors, and the two share very similar maintenance routines. That said, for some homeowners, the pristine appearance of hardwood floors may be more appealing, and they may be less prone to scratches and dents than cork flooring. Hardwood flooring also tends to be more expensive than cork flooring.

While it's possible to cover asbestos tile with carpet, it's not recommended. Encapsulating tile beneath carpet doesn't eliminate the health risks. Over time, the asbestos tiles could degrade, releasing fibers into the air and potentially contaminating the carpet. Disturbance during carpet installation or removal might also release fibers.

Contractors commonly install floors before cabinets during a kitchen remodel. It’s the standard option when installing hardwood, vinyl, and tile flooring. Installing flooring first helps prevent height misalignment, ensures a seamless appearance, and saves extra flooring work and costs if you plan to replace or remove any cabinets later.

Yes, carpeted stairs are safer because carpet helps reduce the chances of slips and falls compared to harder materials like wood, vinyl, tile, or steel staircases, which lack the friction needed for a secure tread. And, if you do happen to fall, carpeted stairs also have more cushioning in the case of an accident.
