"I typed in my information and what I needed to have done and got a call back in less than five minutes. Showed up before the scheduled time, started right in, had the tools needed for the job. Ryan did a lot of work, [much more than I thought it would be if I'd attempted the job myself] in an efficient and knowledgeable manner for a fair price. He and his company will be getting more work from me in the future."

""I'm usually apprehensive about having people in my home. The Junk King guys were very personable and professional. Definitely an upscale experience. I suppose if I was just leaving some stuff at the curb, it wouldn't matter as much, but removing and hauling appliances is a different matter. Will definitely trust Junk Kings with any future hauling needs, as well.""

Small jobs welcome

"David and Larry did a great job trimming our trees. I enjoyed watching them "brainstorm and think out loud" on how to approach the job and gave my wife and I options and professional suggestions during the estimate/bid process. Their prices were very competitive and I have a soft spot for small father-and-son entrepreneurs. We did have some struggles with the time frame of the job and communication of when the are coming over, but we were in no big hurry. David allowed us to make installments making the big job fit within our fixed income budget. We are planning to hire them for future landscaping projects this spring. Great bunch of nice guys!"

"Did a great job on the 2 1/2 car driveway, sidewalk, and porch. Put down high-quality low temperature ice melt and didn’t skimp on it. Charge the agreed amount and did not expect a tip, though I gave them one because they did such a great job. Communication was excellent."

Leaf Removal questions, answered by experts

It is safe to remove old linoleum, but it may require the help of a specialist due to the risk of asbestos in the material. Before you cut into linoleum or try to peel it up, have it tested for asbestos. If it tests positive, professionals will need to remove it to prevent the risk of health issues from airborne toxic particles. If it’s asbestos-free, DIY removal is possible and safe.

Lead exposure poses significant health risks, including neurological, developmental, and behavioral disorders, especially critical in young children and fetuses.

While the EPA provides guidelines for homeowners to perform DIY lead paint removal, it is a risky process and generally not recommended due to serious health risks and strict regulatory requirements. The process requires precise safety precautions, such as wearing a respirator and protective eyeglasses, creating sealed exits, and using a HEPA vacuum for cleanup. To ensure the job is done safely, effectively, and in compliance with regulations, it is highly recommended to hire a professional lead abatement company. Certified professionals have the necessary training, experience, and specialized equipment (like chemical strippers and HEPA vacuums) to handle and dispose of hazardous materials safely.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), hazardous waste is generally classified into four main categories:

1. Characteristic Wastes: These exhibit at least one of four hazardous traits: ignitability (flammable, like gasoline), corrosivity (can rust or decompose materials, like car batteries), reactivity (unstable and can explode, like aerosol cans), or toxicity (harmful when ingested, like lead-based paint).

2. Listed Wastes: These are specific wastes from manufacturing and industrial processes that the EPA has officially designated as hazardous. They include byproducts from processes that use solvents, pesticides, and other chemicals.

3. Universal Wastes: These are commonly generated hazardous items that are subject to streamlined regulations. Examples include batteries, pesticides, mercury-containing equipment (e.g., bulbs), and some lamps.

4. Mixed Wastes: This category includes waste that contains both hazardous and radioactive components, making it subject to regulation by both the EPA and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Government regulations such as the EPA and OSHA govern lead removal procedures to ensure health and environmental safety during and after abatement.
