"If you are looking for stellar service in the area of residential mold remediation, look no further than AdvantaClean Midwest!  AdvantaClean.com My technicians (Jose Garcia & Kyle) are some of the hardest workers that I have seen in a long time. I had a very serious mold problem in the crawl space of my home. It was causing me to have severe headaches, runny eyes, and respiratory problems. When they began work on my home, they put me at ease by letting me know "not to worry that they would take care of the problem". They were absolutely correct! Taking good care of your dryer will help ensure its longevity and keep your clothes nice and dry. Some dryer maintenance tips include:

  • Clearing the lint screen after every use

  • Deep cleaning the lint screen with detergent every three months

  • Don’t overload your dryer

  • Cleaning the dryer vent at least once a year

  • Cleaning the dryer drum twice a year with a microfiber cloth and rubbing alcohol

Dryer vents commonly need to be replaced every one to three years. This will depend on the rate at which you dry loads, how often you clean your vent, and what type of vent you have. For instance, regular care will prolong the life span of most options, while aluminum foil vents may need to be replaced more frequently with or without regular maintenance.

In a ventless dryer, lint it collected in a lint filter found inside the door or dryer drum. Vented dryers have this same lint filter, but in a ventless dryer you’ll need to stay on top of cleaning the lint filter after every wash. This is a common best practice, regardless of your dryer vent type.

Call 911 immediately. If you have a fire extinguisher or fire blanket near the laundry room, you can attempt to extinguish the fire, but don’t open or touch the dryer. If you can’t put the fire out, evacuate yourself, your family, and your pets from the house, closing the laundry room door behind you. Turn off the electricity to your home via the outside fuse box, then wait for the fire department. After a dryer fire, have your home’s electrical system inspected to make sure there isn’t any damage.
