"I recently hired Semper Fi Tree Service, and I couldn’t be more impressed with their professionalism and expertise. From the moment I reached out, their communication was quick, clear, and consistent. They were incredibly responsive and always took the time to thoroughly explain everything—whether it was why full tree removal was necessary or why trimming certain branches wouldn’t be sufficient. Their knowledge about trees is outstanding, especially when it comes to identifying what can harm them and how to best treat or remove them. I was particularly impressed by their free estimate, which wasn’t just a price quote but a full, detailed explanation of their plan and reasoning. When it came to the job itself, Semper Fi Tree Service completed the work quickly and efficiently, with a focus on both safety and quality. They even went above and beyond by partnering with the electric company to safely remove a tree that had grown around a power line, something I never would have expected from a tree service, but it just shows how dedicated and well-connected they are in their field. If you're looking for a trustworthy, professional tree service that knows their stuff and gets the job done right, I highly recommend Semper Fi Tree Service. They exceeded my expectations in every way!"

"Was an emergency.  Not one other company bothered to call me back when I got a hold of these folks.  They happened to be right near by and did the work that day.  I wasn't there when the work was done.  They could have done a little better job on the tree and the price was a little steep, but it was an emergency and they were the only game in town.  I will use them again because my regular tree guy still hasn't called me back.

"Very low key when you meet him, but Steve is very thorough and detailed with his quote and very thorough and detailed in his work. I chose him primarily because of his quote. He is also personally involved in every part of the job and works his butt off! He sticks by his quote; I decided I wanted to give him a tip because he went well beyond what was required. His over twenty years of experience shows in his results. His crew were all excellent and capable. Although tree work requires heavy equipment and can lead to lawn damage, Steve tries to reduce that by using a Toro Dingo lift that uses a track drive system instead of wheels. That reduces damage to your lawn, but cannot eliminate it, especially under wet conditions, so be prepared. That is something that will be the case for whoever you choose. Summary: I would recommend Highland Tree Care to one and all, they are an experienced, knowledgeable and performance oriented tree service company. The owner, Steve Shryack is highly capable."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Not all leaning trees are dangerous, but they can be a hazard as gravity may eventually cause them to fall. A key factor is whether the lean is new or has been present for a long time. Trees that have grown with a lean for years are not typically an immediate danger, but a sudden lean is a cause for concern as it often indicates weakening roots. If a tree is leaning more than 15% from vertical, you should consider having it straightened or transplanted. To be safe, it's always best to hire a professional arborist to inspect any leaning tree to assess the risk and avoid potential accidents.

The best time to prune Japanese flowering cherry trees depends on where you live and the type of flowering cherry tree. Some trees benefit from being pruned toward the end of winter or early spring, after the last freeze. Meanwhile, other trees do well after blooming, in late spring or early summer. Avoid pruning your flowering cherry tree in the early winter, as this encourages open wounds that can lead to infections or infestations.

Professionals use assessments, strategic cuts, specialized equipment, and safety measures to ensure healthy growth or the safe removal of trees or shrubs.

As a general rule, the protected area should be about 1½ times as wide as the canopy of the tree’s leaves. This digging measurement can vary by tree species and the age of the tree. Of course, that can be a lot of fencing for larger trees, which is why our first step is about making difficult decisions on which trees to save.

Transplanting a palm tree is a similar process except for a couple of important differences. First, their root ball doesn’t need to be as large as a “true” tree, which makes them a bit easier to dig up and move around. Second, they struggle more with taking root and staying upright in a new location, so it’s important to give them extra support when staking.
