"I had them come out to repair a crushed part of my back yard black chain link fence. It looks great now!!! The guys were friendly, spoke English, professional and cleaned up the site afterwards. I would use them again!"

Customers say: True professional

"Nathan and the team were fantastic to work with. We had a somewhat unique project building stairs down our hill to the river, so we needed someone who had experience with non-traditional builds. The entire Schwartz team was extremely helpful from start to finish. Nathan helped design the stairs, with our input, and went through all of the appropriate channels for inspections and DNR. While the build was in progress, the whole team was considerate and friendly, and we were updated on the progress and discussed options as the stairs took shape. The craftsmanship is topnotch, and you can tell they know what they are doing. They even finished up our fence that had to be cut through to reach the stairs. The end product is beautiful, and I cant recommend Schwartz Solutions enough."

"We can't say enough good things about Anthony and the team at A Squared Homes. Our deck was in terrible condition, and we thought it needed a complete replacement. Instead of pushing the most expensive option, Anthony thoroughly inspected it, explained our choices, and recommended the solution that made the most sense for our home and budget. Communication was outstanding from start to finish. The crew arrived on time, kept the job site clean, and treated our property with respect. The craftsmanship and attention to detail were exceptional. Our deck looks brand new, feels solid and safe, and has completely transformed our backyard. Anthony's honesty, integrity, and commitment to quality set him apart. If you want a contractor who communicates well, stands behind their work, and delivers outstanding results, we highly recommend A Squared Homes. We'll gladly refer them to our friends, family, and neighbors."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

A chain-link fence does not lower your property value. However, chain links are not the most attractive materials—so it probably won’t raise the value either. If this is a concern, opt for wooden posts to provide visual flair and go with a color coating on your fence. Putting in a functional and attractive gate also helps up your resale value when installing a chain-link fence.

If you’re part of a homeowners association (HOA), you’ll need to speak with them regarding your fence repairs prior to starting work. Sometimes, you’ll need HOA approval to start repairs and ensure that the completed project meets their standards. In other cases, direct approval might not be required to start the project. Speaking with your HOA first will help avoid any unnecessary fines and headaches.

The ideal distance between fence posts depends on several factors, including the terrain, the purpose of the fence, and the material used. For different types of fences, here are some general guidelines:

  • Wood and Metal Fences: Posts should be spaced between 5 and 8 feet apart.

  • Vinyl Fences: Spacing can be between 6 and 8 feet.

  • Chain-Link, Mesh, or Lattice Fences: Posts can be set anywhere from 4 to 25 feet apart, with 4-10 feet being common for chain-link.

  • Wire Fences: Spacing can be up to 12 feet apart.

When your rolls of silt fence join together, you’ll want to overlap them to make sure they’re still as effective at keeping water out without requiring fastening together. Overlap two sections of the silt fencing so that two sheets of fabric cover the span of two posts. If you want to fasten them together, you can staple them or use a zip tie, depending on whether your posts are metal or wood.

Yes, fence posts should be set in concrete to provide the proper support for the fence. If you notice your fence posts leaning, you’ll need to learn how to brace a fence post to fix the problem and prevent further damage from occurring. By bracing a fence post properly, you’ll provide stability and sturdiness to your fence for years to come.
