Earl and Dorothy Knapp started Sundown Gardens in 1949 by specializing in growing peonies and perennials for retail sales. They grew and cultivated plant material as cut flowers for purchase. In 1966, Stevan Knapp, Earl and Dorothy’s only child, started the landscape division. To complete the full-service lawn and garden package, Sundown Gardens offered a landscape maintenance service in 1993. The service provides landscaping, hardscape and lawn services. To this day, the service customizes groundskeeping plans for client properties primarily throughout Indianapolis and surrounding areas, including but not limited to: Zionsville, Carmel, Westfield, Fishers and Geist. In 1995, Dorothy and Stevan retired and a few long-standing employees took leadership of the company. I am the main employee. I have one of the best climbers in IN.. I mainly do trees And fencing but have a lot of sub contactors on hand.

"Never came back out to finish. The primary reason for hiring was to cut off a woodpecker damaged limb that is a great example of a widow maker. That was the only part of the job that involved climbing, but climbing was part of the written contract. He left that cut for last. Meanwhile, excellent work on the other trims and an entire tree cut down. Too tired to do the climbing and said he would be back; hard days work and I thoroughly understood. That was in May. It is now September. Despite me contacting him 3 times, and understanding the intense heat we had mid-summer, still no call from him or appointment set up. I just hired another trimmer, K&D tree trimmers because I still had that widow maker limb and me and my dog play under it. What gets to me are all of the Christian crosses on his logo. K & D, Charles Maples, did excellent work climbing and taking down the dangerous branches, and that is who I recommend. Not Watson's."

The fastest way to remove a tree stump is by burning it or grinding it. You can rent a stump grinder and do the job yourself or hire a local arborist or landscape specialist. Before burning a stump yourself, be sure to check local burn laws. Drill holes in the stump, fill them with vegetable oil, and wait 24 to 48 hours. Add charcoal bricks to the surface, then light the fire. Attend the fire at all times.

The fastest tree-stump killing method is stump grinding. Professional stump grinders can chip away at the stump and remove its roots within one session, potentially more for extra-large stumps. However, we recommend hiring a local stump grinding professional for this task because the machinery is dangerous to operate without prior experience, increasing the safety risk and likelihood of a more difficult removal.

In most cases, leaving tree roots underground is not a problem if the stump has been removed or ground below the soil. However, some larger roots may decompose, leaving dents in your soil. Additionally, some aggressive trees, including willows, oaks, elms, maples, and poplars may grow back from roots. Large aggressive trees with established root systems are more likely to grow back.

For small trees, tree removal should take just a couple of hours to complete. Assume that a mid-sized tree will take between four and eight hours, depending on the extent of the equipment required and the health of the tree. Remember to add up to two hours for stump removal. Larger trees could take as long as one or two working days, about eight hours each.

Trees that have grown with a lean for years are not dangerous, though the added weight to one side could cause an issue eventually. Things are more tricky with trees that seemingly developed a lean overnight. If one of these plants is leaning more than 15% from vertical, consider transplanting or straightening the tree.
