"Can’t say enough good things!!! Hired Oscar & his crew to take up old landscape edging & replace with pavers, box in existing flowerbed & replace rotted railroad ties at back of property. The temperature & humidity were terrible but it didn’t slow these guys down. They were here for 2 1/2 days & were willing to do anything I asked. At the end of each day they cleaned up the property taking away any debris. In the end my property landscaping looks brand new & I am very pleased. I would HIGHLY recommend!!!"

"When I first contacted Toledo Lawn Experts, they called me back right away and promptly came out to provide an estimate. They scheduled the appointment quickly, and everything was on time and exactly as promised. The team arrived as scheduled and were very professional, completing all the work just as requested. Our home looks so much neater and more appealing with everything nicely trimmed. We were so pleased with the results that we’ve decided to hire them for ongoing yard work as well. Highly recommended! "Ok gang, Clutch, the owner of the company, will hooook you up with some seriously professional quality work. It started with him stopping by on a freakin Sunday, no less, for just an estimate. Way to prove you’re interested in people’s business. Next, explain in a ‘non-tree guy’ way how you can help us with our situation. Clutch did a great job communicating what he could do, and why we needed it, and what we wouldn’t need. It was not a high-sell, BS sales pitch. I understood it and I was comfortable knowing I was picking the right guy to help out our situation. If you need a tree removed, you’ll be happy you called these guys. Btw, you’re also supporting a veteran-owned business. Not that it’s a huge factor, but it’s obvious where the owner gets his integrity from."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

It is good to spray water on a Christmas tree to help keep the needles hydrated. Spraying a Christmas tree with water prevents dryness, stops needles from falling off, and reduces the risk of fire.

It may be possible, but transplanting a large, mature tree can be a tricky project, and some trees handle it better than others. If you have a tree you need to save and are considering transplanting it elsewhere, we highly suggest calling a tree removal service and arranging a consultation to see what they say (and how much a full transplant would cost).

While there is a lot of debate about whether boiling water is strong enough to kill tree roots, it is not best to remove the roots from large, old trees. You may be able to weaken young roots enough to remove them manually, but boiling water will likely not do the trick for large root systems.

For safety reasons, leaning trees are best removed by a professional, as they may often tear away from the hinge, causing you to lose control over where the tree falls. If you choose to cut down a tree leaning slightly, avoid cutting off root protrusions before you start. Make your hinge a little longer than usual by cutting it deeper (up to 30% of the diameter) and applying a wedge into the felling cut on the side the tree is leaning. Stand away from the direction the tree leans while making your felling cut.

In most cases, you should not use a pruning seal on trees after trimming. Applying a sealant can interfere with the tree's natural healing process, and it does not guarantee protection from pathogens. Instead of sealing the cut, the best practice is to support the tree's natural recovery by providing it with plenty of water and a dormant-style fertilizer. However, there are exceptions. Pruning seals may be recommended for very vulnerable species, like elm trees, in areas where dangerous diseases such as Dutch elm disease are prevalent. In these specific situations, the protection offered by a sealant can outweigh its downsides. For advice tailored to your situation, especially after cutting large branches, it is best to consult a local tree trimming professional.
