"The crew from Maximus painted the three interior levels of our home and the exterior siding and trim.  I liked that there was a large crew so the work went quickly, they were done within a week.  The house was vacant so it made it a bit easier for them but to do a great job in a 4,000 s.f. house in the timeframe they took was amazing.  We discussed at the beginning that the flooring contractor would be coming in after they were finished and that there would be touch up required.  They came back and fixed all the items I had on my list and they made it clear their intent was for me to be satisfied.  I have worked with a number of painters over the years and they gave me an excellent price.  I highly recommend them."

"Super responsive guy, is honest, friendly, and affordable. I was quoted so much money for my project, and if I wouldn’t have messaged Lawrence property management, I would have paid close to $500 for the service that I only ended up paying $200 for."

"Excellent! I called them and they responded within 10min. They inspected my drain outside of the egress window in a day. A day later they cut the concrete, put a sump pump in the basement. They were right on time. We had several contractors come before and they said “we cannot doing anything”, “shop vac the drain”. They are quiet. And they replaced the dry wall and it cosmetically beautiful. I recommend highly."

"They were professional. They quoted $1600 for the job. I liked that they talked and explained what they were going to do, what would be involved with the job and the clean-up. They really seemed to know what they were talking about. If I wouldn't have gone with the contractor who did the job for me, Caliber would have been my next choice."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Yes, professionals can install new frames, trim, and threshold adjustments for a complete finish.

Bow windows need support because they are large and extend out from the exterior wall of the home. Bow windows may extend 1 foot to several feet from the outside of the home, so you’ll need to provide additional support to handle this weight. A window contractor will be able to provide the proper amount of support for your new bow window.

Most load-bearing walls are exterior, though they can also be interior.

While some highly experienced homeowners can frame a house independently, it is not advisable. You will need ample carpentry experience, a team of helpers, and professionals to sign off on your work to meet local building codes. For the safest outcome, we recommend buying or building a house with the guidance of professionals.

Yes, you can find ceiling joists using simple tools if a stud finder isn't available.

Using a hammer requires patience and a keen ear. Gently tap the ceiling in a grid pattern, listening for sound changes. A hollow sound indicates space between joists, while a solid, dull thud suggests a joist. Mark the location with a pencil and confirm by tapping from different angles.

Alternatively, you can use a nail, but this method will leave small holes. You'll feel increased resistance when the nail hits a joist. Mark the spot and repeat the process every 16 or 24 inches to map the joist locations. This method is considered less reliable than using a stud finder.
