"I contacted Christian Home Renovators from Angie's List to give me a bid on a job that had been started by another contactor but not completed.  Christian Home Renovators came look at the job and set a time to complete the work.  They actually completed the work a few days ahead because of an opening in their schedule which made me very happy.    The overall job repairs  were just outstanding and so  professional. I am a very particular person and the repairs were above my exceptions which says a lot for Christian Home Renovators.   I have already recommended Christian Renovators to one of my neighbors."

"The quality of the work was well done.  Greg and Adam are very responsive.  Adam does excellent work, and very fast once he had all the cabinets, etc.  The thing folks need to know is that it takes a very long time to get cabinets custom ordered and to get granite selected and cut.  Make sure you build this in.  Overall I think this project took too long to complete (over two months), but the overall final product was really great.

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Enhances property value, ensures safety, and provides a sound basis for future construction.

Yes, you can find ceiling joists using simple tools if a stud finder isn't available.

Using a hammer requires patience and a keen ear. Gently tap the ceiling in a grid pattern, listening for sound changes. A hollow sound indicates space between joists, while a solid, dull thud suggests a joist. Mark the location with a pencil and confirm by tapping from different angles.

Alternatively, you can use a nail, but this method will leave small holes. You'll feel increased resistance when the nail hits a joist. Mark the spot and repeat the process every 16 or 24 inches to map the joist locations. This method is considered less reliable than using a stud finder.

Yes, a one-story house can have a load-bearing wall. The load-bearing walls in a single-story home are usually the exterior walls. If the house has a basement with exposed walls, the arrangement of the beams can help indicate what walls are load-bearing.

Traditionally, bungalows are single-story homes, although having a half or partial story on top of the first floor is common. While adding a second story to a bungalow is certainly possible, the home would no longer be considered a bungalow by the strictest definition.

An A-frame home can be cheaper to build than a traditional house, but that is not always a given. Prices can be fairly similar in some cases, depending on the location, design, and necessary site preparation. Costs for an A-frame typically run between $100 to $200 per square foot, which is comparable to the cost of a traditional home. The cost of an A-frame can come in under those numbers if you opt for a prefabricated kit.
