Courtney Construction has certainly done lots of work on my house (10 contracted jobs). As general contractors, they can do it all. As indicated in the previous question, I have engaged them to handle all types of jobs. They are trustworthy, thorough, and skilled in what they do. John Hanger (foreman) takes great pride in the quality of work they perform and does not cut corners. When they discover problems, they solve them rather than cover them up. In my 62 year old house, there have been lots of problems covered up by past owners/contractors. I do believe we have discovered most and corrected all that have been discovered. Overview of Jobs:Master Bathroom Remodel: Demo down to the studs and subfloor, replaced everything with high-end fixtures(cabinets, lighting and air tub), installed porcelain tile in decorative pattern, installed heated flooring, and replaced all plumbing, venting and electrical.Whole House Generator: Poured concrete pad for generator, did all electrical work, ran natural gas line to the generatorHallway Bathroom Remodel: Demo shower, expanded shower by bumping into the hallway closet, replaced all fixtures with high-end fixtures, replaced all lighting and venting, and installed marble to countertops and shower door frame and shower seat.Front Entry: Demo existing steps that had been updated in the past by previous owner (did not match the period of the house) and were crumbling. Designed and poured period appropriate steps and installed new lighting.Security doors: Replaced all original and existing storm doors with security doors.4 Seasons room: Converted existing screen room into 4 seasons room to include insulating floor, raising corner of house that had sunk over time, installing double hung windows, installing new subfloor, installing commercial grade outdoor carpeting, repainted everything to match and updated lighting.Gutter screens: After years of problems with clogged down spouts, they cleaned gutters, repaired gutters where needed and installed gutter screens.Kitchen: replaced all appliances with stainless steel appliances, replaced sink with Kohler rimless sink, installed Delta Touch 2-0 sink faucet, replaced all plumbing and electrical, installed new RO machine, and installed counter switch for garbage disposal.Door Jamb: Replaced damaged door jamb, planed two other doors to allow for installion of new flooring, and rehung three doors. I will certainly use Courntey Construction again.

The drain had been slow for a long time, but this time it was clogged and backed up into the floor drains of my basement. I poured Liquid Plumber down into the drains with no success. I logged onto Angie's List and found what I considered an excellent local plumbing company indicated by their ratings. Knowing that everything is more expensive on a holiday, I called at 7:30 am anyway . I was told they could have someone out between 10am and noon. I was also told if I could wait until the next day it would cost less. I appreciated the information, but I needed the drain unclogged. I was surprised when I got a call at 8:15 am by the plumber who would be coming out. He said he could be here in about 45 minutes. He and his helper arrived as promised, spent about 45 minutes unclogging the main drain, cleaned up after themselves, and were out of here by 10am. However, despite the correct shower fixtures being put in respective baths for them to install, they were installed in wrong baths. They charged us a trip charge to install the master tub (which was delayed in being delivered - not their fault) despite the fact that they had to come out anyway to correct the shower fixture error.
Despite knowledge that the master shower was to be wheelchair accessible, the drain was placed in the wrong location.
Of the 2 toilets they installed, one of them leaked.
They grumbled about the fact that our stainless steel sink needed another hole drilled in it to accommodate the faucet we had purchased and said they couldn't do it. Every time we called about one of the above problems, the woman I talked to would say things like, and quot;Oh, you didn't buy your fixtures from us, DID YOU???and quot; The implication was that they were giving us poor service because we had had bought our own faucets, sinks, etc. (We had bargain shopped for these over a period of years before we built.)
When it was time to install the bathroom sinks, they 'fired' us because we had pedestal sinks instead of vanities!!! They said that the plans showed vanities and that plumbing is different for vanities and pedestal sinks. Our contractor confirmed that, but said that every other subcontractor did a walk-through to finalize plans and discuss any problems, but Greenwell did not. As lay-people who had never built a house before, we had no idea we were supposed to tell the plumbers what kind of sinks we had!
After we hired another plumber to finish up (Onsite Plumbing - a good experience), Greenwell had to come back and reinstall the cutoff valve on the leaking toilet because they did it wrong the first time. Onsite Plumbing laughed when told that Greenwell couldn't drill a hole in the kitchen sink and they drilled one right away with no problem.
Very unprofessional behavior by everyone with whom we were involved at Greenwell Plumbing. When we purchased our land in 2008, we were still living a few states away. We knew we wanted to be very involved in the buidling of our dream home - from the materials (I am a bargain shopper and very particular about what I wanted in our home), to the process, and of course, the budget. After doing extensive research about building methods, materials, processes, we met with Drew to look more closely at the U Build It option. We checked out his references and signed on.
Drew walked us through every step of the process, from the house design, to the .6 mile driveway installation, to choosing subcontractors, to keeping us and everyone else on track, to helping us understand the big picture as well as all of the little details, with the result that we are VERY happy with our home. Neither of us had built before, and although we had heard it could be quite stressful, we did not have the nightmarish experiences we have heard about from others.
When weather and workmen behaved in unpredictable ways, bursting frozen water pipes; when the invariable errors happened and none of the subcontractors would take responsibility; when tensions were high because of miscommunication between us and subcontractors; when we over-reacted due to our own worries about the process - through it all, Drew was a rock. He is incredibly knowledgeable, able to keep details in his head regarding the multiple projects he is involved with at any particular time, well connected in the supply and building worlds, has a great business head, has the tact and diplomacy of a seasoned professional and, most important to me, has shown himself to be a trustworthy man of integrity not often seen in life, let alone in the business world.
Drew Butler planned; made multiple 1-hr+ (one-way) trips to the site to supervise, instruct and assess; made himself easily accessible for questions and concerns; worked directly with sub-contractors; negotiated on our behalf; advocated for us; intervened in several sticky situations; reassured us when we freaked about this or that; advised us; clarified options; inspired us with creative ideas to make our house better and generally pulled everything together to get the home of our dreams built!
Drew's contacts and good reputation enabled us to use products we couldn't have otherwise afforded, and to hire excellent sub-contractors because any sub-contractors who have worked on Drew's projects wanted to keep in good standing with him for future jobs. That provided insurance that good work was done; whereas when we hired a few people who had no connection with Drew and no incentive to keep that good reputation with him, we tended to have more problems and no 'carrot' with which to motivate them.
This is a long dissertation and it is something that should have been written months ago, but Drew deserves nothing but the best and I wanted to have the time to do his work justice. We would definitely use Drew Butler's U Build It company to build another house, would not build without him and would recommend him to others without reservation. "I typically do not leave reviews, but my experience with Tom Drexler Plumbing was so poor that I feel compelled to share it in hopes of preventing others from wasting their time and money. I initially contacted the company to address a leaking faucet in a spare bathroom. I was given a vague appointment window of 8 AM to 5 PM and informed that if I didn’t answer a call prior to their arrival, the technician would not show up. When the technician arrived, he spent time criticizing the company’s hiring practices rather than focusing on the repair. He determined that a full tub and shower replacement was needed, quoting over $1,000. The work could not be done the same day, requiring me to schedule another appointment. The technician arrived late and took the entire day to complete the job, spending a significant portion of time sitting on my staircase visibly exhausted. The installation was subpar—both the faucet and showerhead were protruding nearly two inches from the wall, and the showerhead was visibly crooked. The faucet and showerhead were protruding so far out they couldn't even be caulked. My wife documented the issues with photos. She sent them to me after the tech left. I immediately called Tom Drexler, informed them of the subpar work, and requested a different technician to correct the poor workmanship. A new technician arrived the following week and made the necessary adjustments. However, within four days of using the shower, a leak developed in the ceiling of the kitchen below, and our toilet began leaking from the base when flushed—suggesting possible plumbing pressure or blockage issues. I contacted the company again and scheduled yet another appointment. Despite being given the same 8 AM to 5 PM time frame, no one showed up, and I had to follow up myself to learn the technician wasn’t coming. Eventually, another technician did visit and claimed the ceiling leak was due to "residual water" and dismissed the toilet issue. When the ceiling stain continued to grow, I called again and requested a supervisor. The supervisor came a week later, concluded that the issue wasn’t related to their work, and left without offering any solutions. Altogether, I had to take four days off work to accommodate this series of visits. I now need to hire another plumber from a different company to resolve the ongoing leak. Based on my experience, I cannot in good conscience recommend Tom Drexler Plumbing. The quality of work, communication, and overall customer service were consistently poor throughout the entire process."

"The 2025 Indiana/Ohio River flood placed my furnace and heat pump 70” under water; it had to be replaced. I called Jeff of Pike Mechanical after the water receded and asked him for a service call. During the service call, we concluded the entire HVAC system had to be replaced. Subsequently, Jeff had to correspond and coordinate with FEMA at least four maybe five different times to satisfy FEMA requirements. This took a tremendous amount of effort from Jeff who had to submit detailed pricing for every process of the job. After multiple efforts, Jeff was successful in dealing with FEMA and was able to install a state of the art HVAC system at no cost to me and completed the entire project in one day. Unbelievable! He never stopped working when he arrived and was very methodical in his efforts. I highly recommend Jeff and his company."

FAQs for affordable plumbing projects in Lexington, IN
Yes, most states require plumbers to be licensed, and for good reason. Hiring an unlicensed plumber could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
It’s possible to snake minor drain clogs yourself, provided they sit within a foot or two of the drain itself, but it’s usually best to hire a professional plumber regardless. Even experienced DIYers have a high chance of accidentally pushing the clog further into the drain using a drain snake or another tool, so hiring a plumber is the ideal course of action. A professional plumber can use camera equipment to locate and identify the clog, and remove the entire blockage to fix your issue permanently.
Typically, plumbing repairs cost about $325 per job but can range from $175 to $4,000 or more. Simple fixes, such as a toilet repair, will be less expensive at around $150 to $400. However, if you have a pipe that has burst, you can expect to pay between $1,000 and $4,000 or more.
The project that needs to be completed, the size of your home, and the type of plumbing pipes you have can all impact the final cost. External factors such as supply chain issues and shortage of materials all play a part in how much this repair might be.
The average cost to unclog a drain is around $200, with prices ranging between $110 and $800, depending on the type of drain and the extent of the clog. Hiring a professional to snake the toilet or sink will usually cost between $110 and $275, a bathtub or shower typically costs around $225, and a main line clog can cost between $100 and $800 based on the severity of the clog and how far beyond the access point the clog sits. Since the labor involved varies, most plumbers will charge an hourly rate for drain cleaning.
The average cost to hire a plumber is around $100 an hour but can vary between $45 and $200 an hour depending on the plumber’s experience and the repair that you need. It’s also important to note that these prices can go up on holidays, and emergency plumber rates average $150 per hour, in addition to a flat-rate trip fee of $100 to $350.
