The price always seems a little high on them.
But, I used them because they are local, they know my problems, I know them and they know me.
So, it is a good working relationship.

I called Burneys to find out what in the world this was for, this snippy little girl on the phone informed me that they replaced the sink bowl in the tenants bathroom, 17 days AFTER I requested them to go out on what I thought was a clog. (without even asking my permission) and that it cost 470.22 to do so. I was stunned, I explained to them that I would NEVER have authorized such a ridiculous amount for a 32.00 sink, especially since I have only hired them in the past for CLOGS which I assumed was the issue at the tenants apartment. The owner of Burneys sent over a letter after WEEKS of waiting for him to call me, he stating that this JEN had called me 1 time on the day I sent them out to check what I thought was a clog (6/60/15) and I didn't answer so she took it upon herself to order the work done 17 days after they went out to the property. WHAT??? REALLY? He found that to be perfectly acceptable behaviour and told me basically I HAD to pay that bill. NEVER use these people they will rob you and then laugh at you when you complain. I see MANY others on here discussing the price gouging and NO customer service except JEN who laughed when I called them to tell them I was reporting them to Angies list..she said that's fine have a nice day..They don't care. I also see that the responses to customer complaints are basically too bad, we are right you (the customer) are wrong,. HORRIBLE PEOPLE
Response from BURNEY'S PLUMBING
"Previous Work Performed: 03/05 GAS LEAK (billed to secondary company who cut line), 05/28 STOOL REPAIR $137.99, 05/28 REPLACE WATER HEATER $1051.75, 06/09 LAVATORY POP UP $132.31, 06/09 GAS LEAK $141.39, 06/15 STOOL REPAIR $157.37, 06/30 STOOL & LAVATORY LEAK $470.22. All work performed at different rental locations. Since we charge by time and material, the only time the customer was contacted before repair work done was for water heater replacement since it could not be repaired. Customer had never indicated that we need to get permission after arriving at job location. Permission was given when request for service was made. Our Service Charges have never changed. 06/30 Stool was repaired. Customer never said a clog, but rather the sink was leaking. Lavatory was rusted through causing damage to cabinet and needed replaced. Lavatory sink was $32.51, we did replace faucet also $95.50, as the other one was too corroded to reuse. We were unable to return to unit due to tenant schedule until 07/17. Several attempts were made to reach Property Mgr. Dawn Creasey, for choice of sink type for the replacement, voice mail was not set up and no response. We chose the china bowl which was less than the steel bowl. If charges were divided, Stool repair was $202.90 & Lavatory replacement was $267.32. In order to not be liable for damages to property, since service request was made, service was performed according to request made. Invoice had to be mailed to property owner, due to lack of responses via phone or mail. Customer appears to be disgruntled since we did not reduce invoice for complaint. Customer was not laughed at or treated rudely, but has used derogatory name calling to the staff in a bully manner. We had performed work for this customer 6 times prior to last service request with never a complaint. Family owned and operated since 1997. Charging by Time and Material with NO Service Fees ever."

They were very prompt and fixed my problem, but charged me $560 for what turned out to be nothing but a clogged toilet.
Response from BURNEY'S PLUMBING
"Customer's complaint was: Toilet overflows when water is turned on anywhere in the house. Upon checking outside clean out for main sewer, it was open from clean out to city main. We were unable to clean line towards house since they did not have a two way clean out installed. Had to pull stool in half bath to run sewer machine and found clog to be 50 - 60 feet out. We cleaned the bath floor upon completion and customer had us help remove carpet and padding in dining room. This charge was for two men with a large sewer machine. Charged by time and material."

We could have simply replaced the wax ring (that was no longer existent), however, the toilet flange didn't have any flooring around it (it was not secured to anything). And, although the toilet itself didn't appear to be rocking (was on a solid tile floor), we felt it was a better solution to try to secure the toilet properly. Therefore, we went the more expensive route.
We were initially told that it would probably be between $400-$500, however, they ran into some unexpected problems. So, I received an unexpected total bill of $595.
The guys were very professional and did a good job of making sure they didn't make a mess in the house. They also cleaned up the area well. They were very nice and were easy to talk with and did a good job of explaining the situation.
I appreciated the fact that they could get to the work so promptly as well.

For something that was probably as major of a sewage issues as you could possibly go through, I couldnt have been happier with the outcome and working with the crew at Burney's. If you live in and around Hendricks County (Plainfield), there is really no need to look at any other plumbers. We will be using Burney's for any plumbing need going forward!

Burney's is the only plumber I use. We own residential and commerical properties and frequently have plumbing issues. Anytime I call, Burney's is very accommodating, schedules me quickly, always arrives on time, professional work and clean up, plus fair price. Very trustworthy, I've left keys when I can't be there and let the plumber go in on their own. I always recommend Burney's to anyone who needs plumbing work done.

We've used them a few times. They were very prompt. They made a schedule for Saturday and that worked wonderful for me since I work. They were very flexible and very willing to work with me. I would recommend them.

Burney charged me $250 (2 hours labor) on day 1 to assess the situation. His description on the bill of what he did day 1 was to determine that floor drain not acceptable for laundry, found old laundry drain. These are two things that we could have discussed and agreed upon over the phone before he even left the office (no charge). He offered to stay longer and charge overtime on day 1, even though I had called him at 9am and he didn't arrive until late afternoon. My relative who was supervising had to remind him that it was not an emergency and there was no reason for overtime, to return the next day.
Burney returned late afternoon the next day. He apparently brought a "gopher" or a second man. The second man essentially ran back and forth to the van to gather supplies and he supervised my relative while my relative performed another task which was none of his business. The presence of the unneeded second man trumped up the hourly rate from $125/hr to $155/hr - this is outrageous! The second day I was billed for 4.5 hours labor for 2 men.
The highly frustrating part is that after a $1050 plumbing bill, the problem was not resolved and we still could not do laundry. I personally ran a couple of drain chemical cleaners down the drain, snaked the drain, and vacuumed the drain. I spent a couple hours of my own time to remedy the problem to a working solution.
Other notable technical issues: Burney installed water drains for softener and condensate directly above 3 electrical outlets. I can't imagine plumbing flexible plastic drains over electrical whenever there is an alternative - I had to fix those. Burney told me over the phone that the floor drain had no clean out or the clean out was tiled over - in fact, the clean out is within the bell of the drain and easily observed.
Professionalism: I was working the days of service and I left my checkbook with my relative to pay the contractor. When I was told by my relative the amount of $1050 for the plumber I was shocked. I asked my relative, a pipe fitter by trade, if he felt the charges were fair. He stated that for the work done, the job was worth $300 to $500 maximum. I called Burney from my work to ask him to explain the charges. He immediately was very defensive. He told me he had actually given a discount off the usual two-man labor charges and that instead he should have charged me more! He reasoned aloud that if he had charged me more up front I would have been pleased with the resulting "discount" he gave over the phone. He insulted me by saying I had obviously not hired a plumber recently. He told me he spent 90 minutes, when he got home, cleaning out his ShopVac (from gray water?!?!) and so there are hidden time investments that I should take into account for the high prices. He insulted my wife by saying she didn't know anything about plumbing or how to run a business! He yelled at me and my wife over the phone on separate calls. I asked him for a cash discount since I paid cash and he said flatly no. I checked Angie's List that day to discover that a 10% discount coupon was available. I emailed the office the same day and they graciously accepted my 10% coupon.
I would not hire this company again and I would not recommend them to anyone. I trusted Burney's Plumbing since I was referred to them by my realtor. That trust was violated by high prices and offensive customer service.

Henry from Burney's was very responsive to us. Our water heater went out on a Sunday night. He was able to be here first thing Monday morning. He was here for less than an hour, was able to remove the old water heater, and replace the new. Very professional. Highly recommend!

I went out to get a soft drink from my garage and saw that the drywall ceiling had caved in -- wet insulation everywhere. I called Burney's to tell them I had an emergency and they promised to be out soon. The plumber arrived several hours later and calmly and professionally identified the source of the leak and fixed it. His responsiveness saved me a lot of headaches and $$ as stopping the leak quickly ensured that damage was minimized. A very good experience!!

He arrived right on time and installed two faucets. Did an excellent job, cleaned up after the installation. Very fast and efficient. Faucet did not drip when he was done!

My water heater is under an extended warranty through Lowe's, but Lowe's could not get someone over to fix the problem in time. I called Burney's and they came out first thing the next morning and fixed it, and followed up with a thank you note.

Burney's Plumbing was full service from the beginning. They arrived on-time and even made arrangements with the renters to finish at amore convenient time. No added trip charge was incurred. They were very easy to work with and did quality work.

My sump pump went out and flooded part of my basement. When I called,
James answered the phone and said he'd be over in just a few minutes.
About 30 minutes later, he was there and got right to it. He checked
the existing pump and it surely was dead. He suggested a pump he had
and was even willing to use the old pipes, if they would fit the new
pump. They didn't, but that was fine with me as all the parts were
pretty well limed up anyway. He installed the new pump and got it
working in no time. Good job, Jim.
