"The people at Window Valet of Indianapolis are simply the best in the business! Josh is the best salesman/owner in the window treatment business! Kiersten is the best in customer service! and last but not least, Dale is the best in any window treatment installation service! My family is so happy to see our Zebra shades every single day and night since they installed them on the 26 windows/door of our new house in Fishers last Thursday. We strongly recommend Window Valet of Indianapolis only and no other else because they are the best in the business. Thank you so much, Josh, Dale, and Kiersten for putting a smile on our familys faces from the moment we wake up each morning until we go to bed at night."

"We contracted Blind Faith Blinds to provide and install all the window coverings for our new home. Mark was very helpful and professional in directing our selections through the installations and followup customer service. The cost was in line with our budget and we was able to make our move into our new home without having to worry about frustrations of installing window coverings. I highly recommend Mark and his company for all of your window covering needs."

"When I met George, we talked about options for my 2 cars carport at my backyard (measurements & time frame). He's very knowledgeable of what He is doing. He also manages His crew very well. He is Mr Wright to do the right job. My family loves the carport that we don't have to worry about getting wet on rainy season to get in and out of the car. Our carport is very nice, huge, and sturdy. Thanks to R Wright Construction."

Hi there! I have about 9 years of experience with home remodeling, house flips, and currently I am focused more on carpentry (custom closets, interior/exterior trim, etc.) and flooring. I am still open to most home repair needs. I am new to Angi, but feel free to check out some photos of my work in the project photos. I am also willing to share more photos. Feel free to email me at [email protected] or call/text at 3179032308. Thanks!

Window Shutters questions, answered by experts

Plantation shutters cost an average of $2,990, making them one of the pricier shutter options. However, they offer a 75% return on your investment and are great options for boosting curb appeal and property value. Most people go for plantation shutters for their timeless, vintage look. They also provide the strongest light blocking and temperature control for your home.

Not all windows are suitable for shutters, as certain styles can prevent them from functioning correctly. It's best to avoid installing shutters on bay windows, picture windows, dormer windows, and double-mulled windows. Shutters are better suited for large, full-size standard windows or French doors.

Additionally, consider the room's lighting needs. Since shutters effectively block light, they are an excellent choice for rooms where you want more darkness and privacy, such as a master bedroom or a main living room. For window types that are not ideal for functional shutters, some homeowners choose to install fixed (non-functional) shutters to maintain a consistent look across the home.

Estate shutters offer more energy efficiency, privacy, and light control than blinds. They provide better insulation against heat and cold, lowering your energy bills. They’re also sturdy, durable, and last much longer than blinds (up to 50 years or longer). They’re also low-maintenance and can add curb appeal to your home. The return on investment (ROI) for estate shutters is around 75%.

The average shutter is designed to last 20 to 25 years. Proper maintenance for the type of shutters you have is essential for helping them reach their full potential.

Shutters are still very common in Southern, farmhouse, and traditional-style homes, especially those in warm climates who can benefit from the increased efficiency. While modern homes and designs tend to shy away from shutters, shutters are a timeless design style that will likely be around for decades to come.
