"The installation of my new water heater was done the same day, and the work was done quickly and the install crew was excellent. I spoke with Jeff from Affordable Water Heaters and he was very understanding and knowledgeable, and gave me a great price on a new water heater. I am very pleased with the service, and would highly recommend this business to anyone. I would definitely hire them again, if needed in the future."

"I had hired them before to put in a tank for the well water and was pleased with their workmanship. I bought a deal and the company worked with me to make it cover the specifics of the job I wanted done. The actual digging and pulling out of the old pump and putting in the new one went very well. Brad and Adam did a valiant job and got the new pump installed with alacrity. They were friendly, helpful and courteous. They were responsive to my requests, gave me lots of information and satisfied my curiosity. However, they brought a big trailer into my driveway that cost them lots of time maneuvering and banged up a tree badly as well as digging trenches in the soft earth on one side of the drive (which I had to shovel off the drive and back into the trench) and mowing down shrubs on the other. The trailer should have stayed on the street and the equipment driven in on its own power. That would have shorted the work process by about an hour! I only had to suffer through about a week of dark grey water before I got full benefit of the new pump and could shower and drink the water. Josh Abdnour, the owner, was quite concerned about the aftermath (the flushing of the well turned the driveway by it into a mudflat) and sent someone over to both get the thick mud off the drive by the well and to inspect the tree (Ping's Tree Service said the tree would survive the damage without any steps to protect the trunk after the loss of bark). It took a while to get the documentation on my pump and guarantee issued in my proper name, but I am delighted with the quiet function of the pump and the prospect of regular care (as long as the company remains in business, and I certainly hope they do!) Josh even tried to help with finding an attractive cover for the ugly wellhead that is now above ground right in front of the porch where before there had been a dense 53-year growth of ivy and myrtle."

"Keith Weddlle and his assistant, Nicholas, did a fabulous job on our bathroom...it turned out even better than we had imagined. We thought the price was very fair considering all the work that had to be done. They came when they said they would, were neat, and worked long hours to make sure we had our bathroom back as quickly as possible. We would recommend Keith to anyone, and are planning on hiring him again for our next project."

Affordable Plumbers questions, answered by experts

Installing a drain pipe costs about $600, ranging from $150 to $2,000, depending on the type of drain, accessibility, proximity to drain lines, and whether you’re installing new drain pipes or replacing old ones. Replacing a main drain line can cost over $2,000, whereas replacing a p-trap costs around $150 on average. Keep in mind that new water pipe installation projects are bid by fixture, like kitchen sink, toilet, or main water line. You can expect to pay $70 to $1,000 per fixture.

Although air in your water lines won’t affect the overall quality of your water, it will lead to problems with your well water system if not addressed. Over time, too much air in your water lines can create blockages in your pipes, cause insufficient water flow to your taps and appliances, loosen pipes, and potentially damage important components of your well including your well pump and pressure tank.

It is generally safe to stay in a house that smells like sewage for a short time, but you should get the problem fixed as soon as possible. While the level of sewer gas is usually low enough to only cause minor symptoms, prolonged inhalation can lead to headaches, nausea, or respiratory irritation. High levels of gas exposure can be more dangerous, and high concentrations of methane—a component of sewer gas—can pose an explosion risk in enclosed spaces. If you smell sewer gas in your home, ventilate the area and call a professional to locate, assess, and fix the problem, as it will not go away on its own.

If the shut-off valve to your kitchen sink appears to be stuck or broken, there's no need to panic! The workaround is to turn off the main valve that supplies water to your entire household. This valve is located along the main water line. Of course, it's also important to have a plumber repair the malfunctioning shut-off valve under your kitchen sink because this indicates a problem.

Flex is necessary for soldering copper pipe. This acidic paste attracts the solder, pulling it deeper into the joint so the solder fills all the gaps between the two metal fittings. While many solder products contain small amounts of flux, you need to apply the additional flux paste to ensure you achieve a water-tight fit between the two copper pipes.
