Small jobs welcome

"My handrails had been dinged from the hailstorm in May. This pro came to see what needed to be done, gave me an estimate of the cost to redo these by sanding, spray painting with primer, and the material cost. When he showed up as promised, he covered all the exposed portions of the porch with plastic and cardboard to avoid unwanted paint smears. The handrails look almost new and that is amazing since they are original to the house and have been painted many times. Very professional."

"Allegiance Tree Service did a great job with our two walnut trees. They were in a risky situation. One was leaning over our house and phone line, the other was leaning towards our neighbor's house. They cut them down safely piece by piece and cleaned up all the branches, and debris. The only complaint was that they got stuck in our yard and had to call a tow truck. They however did try to fix the ruts the best they could. Some people might find this really upsetting, but I found it understandable as it was on a hill and not too long after it rained. I would recommend them as they got the job done as promised and they are insured."

"This company was very professional. He wants to make his customers happy an cares about his work. I would definitely recommend this company. I had two trees cut down an both stumps grinded. The price was less than what I had in mind. If I ever need tree service again I will contact them again."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Planting trees far enough from your foundation will protect your home from root damage, but if you’re dealing with existing trees, you can still guard against roots. Root barriers form a physical boundary that will prevent roots from encroaching on your foundation and can help save you from expensive foundation repair costs.

There are a few differences between tree guying and tree staking. Tree guying requires anchor stakes that are shorter and stronger than regular stakes and are driven deeper into the ground at an angle away from the tree. Tree staking uses longer stakes that are set parallel to the tree and are used for smaller trees. Consult a local tree professional to determine which method is best for your tree.

It is possible to burn out a tree stump if it is dried out and in an area of your property with a large buffer. Drill holes in the stump and dig around the base so it burns more easily. Then, build a small campfire on top using kindling and firewood. You’ll need enough to keep the fire going for many hours to completely burn out the stump, especially if it’s large.

Monitor the fire closely to ensure it doesn’t spread, and have a hose on hand if it starts to get out of control. When the fire is out, break apart the burned stump and dig out what’s left of it.

If this sounds like a good option, learn more about how to burn a tree stump before attempting it, as it does come with risks.

Absolutely. These steps are significantly easier, too, especially when it comes to preserving the root ball and moving the palm tree. However, you will want to make sure the tree has plenty of fertilizer to establish itself and start growing. Supports may also be more important, as it can take extra time for a potted palm to spread out its roots. If you are transferring a palm to another pot, you’ll want to move up a size or two to a larger pot. Make sure the pot has excellent drainage to keep the palm from getting waterlogged.

Late August, September, and mid-October are the ideal months for planting a young tree. However, the best time to plant a tree ultimately depends on when the weather transitions to fall-like conditions and eventually winter frost. As long as the hottest days of summer have passed and the ground hasn’t frozen yet, you can still successfully plant trees.
