"We had some work done on our crawlspace and Michael Paris with Proview Professional Home Inspection was recommended to us by another contractor. Upon requesting Proview's service, within a few days Mr. Paris promptly inspected our crawlspace. He found a few issues, provided a great report along with photos. I just forwarded his report to my contractor with the 2 issues to be addressed and corrected. I asked Mr. Paris to come out again to verify the additional corrected work was completed to his satisfaction. He came the next morning and confirmed all is correct under our house. Very impressed with their detail report and equally impressed with his promptness. He was at the house a few minutes earlier than he said he would be there, which was great. If in the need, I would highly recommend Michael Paris and Proview Professional Home Inspections to all."

Home Inspection questions, answered by experts

Without regular proactive maintenance, your home and the things in it will wear out, break, or otherwise deteriorate much faster than they would with routine maintenance. Regular home maintenance also helps to prevent major problems down the road. For example, regular gutter cleaning will help avoid roof and foundation problems caused by pooling water and improper drainage.

Septic tank locations are sometimes public record, although it depends on local laws and the property age. Older properties may not have the septic tank information on public record. To check, you can talk to local permitting agencies, such as your local health department, the local environmental department, or the county clerk.

Yes, deck footings typically require an inspection before laying down concrete. While not all local building codes require footing inspection, proper placement ensures a safe and structurally sound deck. An inspector will verify that the deck can adequately hold what you put on top of it., and that the footings have been dug to the correct dimensions.

Measure from zero on a measuring tape by placing the metal hook right up against the edge of what you need to measure. You can also latch the hook onto an open edge—of, say, a table—to accurately measure as well. If you begin at the 1-inch mark, you'll need to subtract an inch from your total.

Even if a homebuyer has no intention of using the fireplace installed in the home they’re thinking of buying, it’s vital to know when the fireplace and chimney were last inspected. Aside from learning that it can operate properly, homebuyers will want to know that the structures themselves are sound and won’t affect the integrity of the surrounding home. With full knowledge, homebuyers can then make plans for any necessary repairs before they move in.
