We are a team of two, my wife and me. We do sub-contracting now threw Carpets Unlimited. So we are use to doing residential, and very good with home owners. Also do allot of new construction, for the main builders in our area. We also have many years of experience in the flooring business. We normally have a contract signed before the job begins, explaining the billing, start date, finishing date, and any other matters due to the job. All work is covered with a one warranty, and a guarantee of satisfaction.

"Please DO NOT HIRE. Andrew Spears preys on women. I had hired him for various small jobs to prepare my rental for sale. He claimed he could do and finish all work within two days , charging 500 a day plus supplies. He never showed on the first day but his two young sons did. They were limited to the extent of work they could do, stating their dad had the tools they needed to do the work. They had left the tub surround they had pulled out on my hard wood floors without any tarps. When I called Andrew to ask why he never called or showed he explained he had another project, when I asked if he was charging for a full day he said would only charge half day. On second day my husband came with me and Andrew's demeanor changed abruptly. After first day of work Andrew asked for 500 to pay for supplies, when asked for receipts he claimed it will all be on an invoice after work is done. Third day he asked for three days pay and still hadn't started vent on water heater, denying he said he would only charge half day for the day he never showed. Then proceeds to say I will have pay additional money when he comes back to fix water heater flue. His work was poor, left mess, totally disrespectful to my property, cut tile in our family room, when he was asked to come clean his mess and repair his poor work he had an attitude, was cleaning his construction mess with my home vacuum, my vacuum is now broke. He tried to make me feel guilty and accused my husband and I of lying. When asking for receipts he said the receipts were on bathroom wall referring to his work. As time went on and we hired others to repair his poor work we have found more and more flaws in his work, he had left hot wires in attic, fire hazard, tub tile he used wrong grout, uneven, did not seal and left too large of gap for the tub glaze guy to caulk, was never able to put recess lights in that he said he would, left drooping in ceiling where he drywall patched, list goes on , again when we approached him about the poor work had an attitude and argumentive. When he never showed for last part of job we asked him not to come back. Then he became defensive and threatened to put a lien on my house. Please stay away from this contractor."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Tile installation can be expensive because it requires more time and labor to install than many other materials. For example, laminate flooring can click and lock into place, and carpet comes in large rolls that you can secure to the floor. On the other hand, tiles need to be cut, laid individually, grouted, and left to cure.

You can, in theory, tile your fireplace hearth with most tiles. However just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. For example, it’s much better to use unglazed tiles because glazed tiles are more resistant to cracking under extreme heat. Porcelain is more heat-resistant than ceramic, but you can still design the hearth as you like by putting the most heat-resistant tiles directly under the fire and, if it matches your style, add more decorative tiles further from the center of the fire.

Yes. You can tile over tile if the old tile is in good shape, but this will also create a thicker floor. As a result, you may have to remove and readjust baseboards and other room trimmings and potentially even raise door heights to work with the higher floors. In most projects, it’s best to remove the old tile before installing a new tile floor.

Ceramic tile installation costs around $2,000, ranging from $500 to $6,500 on average. The size of the area, the tile rating, the type of installation, and the type of ceramic tile impact costs. The cost of installing tile flooring can vary depending on the shape of the floor. Some of the most common floor shapes cost as follows:

  • Square: $2–$10 per square foot

  • Rectangle: $2–$15 per square foot

  • Hexagon: $8–$20 per square foot

  • Mosaic: $10–$30 per square foot

  • Non-standard: Up to $40 per square foot

It’s not a good idea to lay tile and grout on the same day. The adhesive or thin-set that sticks the tiles to the surface needs plenty of time to dry before you can grout. Wait for 24 to 48 hours, depending on moisture levels in the space. The tiles can become misaligned and more prone to damage if you don’t wait.
