"We had a sump installed and needed to re-install sections of the drywall. The job was completed quickly (less than one day). Team took care with the clean up after the job was completed. In addition to dry wall work, they do remodeling, etc. I would definitely contact Jose’s for another project."

"PHIL’S Drywall / Plaster Services We had a Custom Made Wooden Shelf (6” wide x 14 ft. lg.) mounted in place 27 years ago. Needless to say, the walls saw 3 or 4 paint jobs over that time. We are currently upgrading our kitchen and decided it was time to change so the shelf came down. This left a raised area around the shelf that required plaster repair. (See photo) My closest friend just had some ceiling repair done by Phil and told me what a nice job he had done. So I contacted Phil and here is how it went down: 1) I texted Phil about my repair requirements and “Boom” he gave me a quote by text the same day !! Amazing. 2) I called him the next day to inquire how soon he could start the job. He respond immediately & said “ TOMORROW”. (Say What !!!!) I then said what time could you start, he said 9:00am. I said “Your HIRED” 3) Phil arrived right on time and got right to it. He is indeed a specialist, very neat & efficient. Call 219-246-0433. He is worth it. Small jobs no problem."

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can use drywall repair techniques for some types of plaster damage. Tiny holes and small cracks in plaster can be patched in similar ways to drywall. You apply the necessary compound to fill the hole, wait for it to dry, then sand it down. For larger damage, like water damage or mold, you need to use plaster-specific techniques and materials.

Venetian plaster is a highly durable wall finish that becomes a rock-like substance once dried, making it last longer than most other wall finishes. Its lifespan can range from decades to centuries, potentially lasting a lifetime. Key factors influencing its longevity include the quality of the initial application, whether it's properly sealed against moisture, and how the wall is maintained and treated (e.g., how often it is touched or bumped). Due to its mineral content, it can also develop a patina over time.

Plaster repair costs range from $4 to $10 per square foot for refinishing, while skim coating can be less expensive, usually between $2 and $5 per square foot. The price you pay for plaster repairs will depend on the extent of the damage, the type of plaster you have on your walls, and the accessibility of the damage. Plaster repair on the exterior of your home tends to be more expensive, as there’s a higher chance that ladders or scaffolding will be necessary to carry out the repair.

Although they have similar applications, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Their primary differences lie in their composition, consistency, and ideal use cases.

Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it thicker than joint compound. It dries quickly and is easy to sand, which makes it ideal for small wall repair projects like filling nail holes or patching minor damage.

Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum. It is primarily used for large-scale projects, such as taping and finishing the seams on newly installed drywall. It tends to shrink more than spackle and can be more difficult to spread.

While both products can be used to fill small depressions and cracks, spackle cannot replace joint compound for taping and mudding new drywall. Conversely, you can often use joint compound for small patching jobs typically done with spackle.

Many services include repainting to match the existing surface. Confirm with your provider.
