"I am so pleased with my new countertops, if you had a 10 rating it would be that. Tommy is a soft spoken, knowledgeable , very nice person. I bought my home in September '20, and the countertops were a mess, a big mess, with several mitered cuts. Exotic Countertop Creations, (Tommy) did not have to deal with those mitered cuts. He designed solid countertop forms, (one being very large) and avoided those mitered cuts. He brought samples of his work, we discussed the colors and design I liked,. He then proviced 3 samples using all the info gathered in our meeting. All 3 would have actually been good for my kitchen, but I chose the one with the Carrera marble design. He then came back to get correct measurements so he could make the forms. And when he doubted one of the measurements, came back again just to be sure. What great customer service!!! My countertops are gorgeous, exactly the look I wanted and exactly what I wanted, and at a reasonable price. Tommy's attention to detail and customer satisfaction is top notch. I am so happy I chose his company to give me an estimate . Prior to meeting with him, I knew all those miter cuts was going to drive the price of countertops up up up...and he can avoid that. So if you have that issue, give Tommy a call!! If Tommy can provide before/after pictures, he really should. They look so nice I don't want to put anything on them, they are beautiful. I was like a little kid when they all got put in. I am so so happy. Exotic Countertop Creations is an excellent choice for countertops for anywhere you may need them! 10 Star rating Tommy! Thank you Exotic Countertop Creations!!!"

"Our undermount sink separated from our quartz countertop. (Clips holding it gave way. No way to reattach.) Had someone out who pinpointed the problem but recommended a counter repair. I bought a new bigger overmount sink. Some problems with our phone number and doorbell meant he missed an appointment but promptly contacted us via email, he picked up the new sink we ordered that day and came late to install it for us. A late 3 hours later we had a lovely new sink. Good work and good follow through."

Countertops and Backsplashes questions, answered by experts

Undermount sinks have clips that attach to the countertop, but they have pros and cons. They are heavier than drop-in sinks, so they only work with sturdy countertops like natural stone and are a more expensive option. You might need someone to help you install the sink, depending on its weight.

Gray is always a safe bet when painting concrete countertops, since concrete is a variation of gray. You may also choose black or white, but those are much starker colors that only do well in certain kitchens.

The least porous countertop material is engineered quartz. Made from a blend of natural quartz and resins, it is non-porous and highly resistant to stains, scratches, and bacteria. This makes quartz countertops exceptionally low-maintenance and durable, ideal for kitchens and bathrooms where hygiene and easy upkeep are priorities. Other non-porous options include solid surface materials like Corian, which also offer excellent resistance to moisture and stains.

Granite is one of the most popular options for countertops, and most homeowners believe that granite countertops are worth the money. Granite is more affordable than marble and quartz, and provides outstanding durability and longevity. Granite countertops are also desirable because they are entirely unique; unlike some other countertop materials, your granite slab won’t be identical to any others. Granite is porous, which means it has the potential to stain if you don’t clean up spills quickly, but the general durability and relatively low cost make it well worth the investment.

Yes, Corian® and other solid surface countertops can be cut with standard woodworking tools like a circular saw or a jigsaw, but using the correct blade is crucial for the best results.

The recommended blade is a tungsten carbide-tipped blade, often called a solid-surface planer or triple chip grind blade. This type of blade is hard enough to cut through the material effectively. For a jigsaw, a fine-tooth down-cutting blade should be used.

It is important to note that a diamond blade is not necessary. Diamond blades are designed for harder materials like natural stone, concrete, or brick, and Corian is not a natural stone.

Using blades designed for wood is not recommended as they can cause microfractures that weaken the countertop's edges. While a tungsten carbide blade provides a much cleaner cut, the resulting edge will still be rough and must be sanded and smoothed to prevent microfractures from developing over time.
