"He showed up in a timely manner. He did the job quickly. There was a shorted wire that he had to re-run and pull through the existing pipe. So far it's all working great and has not needed to return. So far everything working great."

In business since 1974

Gick Builders started business in March, 1979 as a framing contractor. Brothers Bob and Mike Gick, lifelong residents of Benton and Tippecanoe Counties, are the principals. In 1979, Bob and Mike formed their own company, primarily for remodeling and as framing subcontractors for other builders in Central Indiana. They framed over 400 homes in both Lafayette and Indianapolis areas, and worked on many multi - family housing projects. They served as project managers for over 66 multi - family units.\n\nIn addition, Gick Builders has done work on several commercial jobs such as BoJangles and Harrigan's Restaurants, the Lafayette Shrine Club and Paw Prints, Franks Nursery in Lafayette. In 1987, Bob and Mike began building their own custom homes. To date, they have completed 60 custom homes ranging in price from $75,000 to $500,000.\n\nWe believe that the craftsmanship that goes into your new home should be performed as if we were the ones making the mortgage payments. If the quality measures up to what we would expect in our homes, you can be sure that it will measure up for you as well. \n\nTo ensure that we complete our mission and achieve the best quality possible, Mike and / or Bob are always on the job, from start to finish. Bob and Mike have total control over the finished quality of their homes because they do all of the excavating, framing, siding, trim, wiring, painting, septics, concrete prep.\n\n\n\n\n

Holiday Decorating questions, answered by experts

During the holidays, big box hardware stores sell many kinds of clips and hooks made specifically for hanging Christmas lights—including ridge clips, gutter clips, shingle clips, and mounted hooks. It’s best to avoid nails, staples, and screws since they can damage your roof.

To get in the festive mood, you might turn to hanging holiday lights yourself. In many circumstances, DIY Christmas light installation can be cost-effective, not to mention fun. However, it’s best to consider any limitations to this task and how that might affect your overall project, like tall roofs. Consider hiring a Christmas light installer to place lights or decorations in hard-to-reach areas like roof peaks to avoid the risk of injury.

Yes, energy-efficient options such as LEDs and solar-powered lights are available. These alternatives consume less electricity, resulting in lower utility costs. They are also more environmentally friendly due to their reduced carbon footprint and longer lifespan.

Nails are a popular choice for hanging string lights, but they are not the only option. Use outdoor hooks, zip ties, or even awning hangers to string up lights outdoors. For indoor lights, use simple tacks, zip ties, damage-free adhesive hooks, or drawing pins. When all else fails, just wrap the lights around some furniture or outdoor fixtures.

The simplest way to put Christmas lights on any metal surface is by using a magnetic hook or clip. You can also purchase magnetic lights, which should easily stick to any magnetic surface. Keep in mind that not all metals are magnetic. In that case, you’ll need to use a different clip.
