"I’m a 70 year old Senior. I had sagging at the end of my hall, in my 3-BR ranch home. I got five other quotes, none of which suggests a problem with my foyer or kitchen. They sent out some 20 something young man -that clearly did not know what he was doing to complete my main beam replacement project. I mentioned to David (the 20 something) and his assistant IMMEDIATELY, that my kitchen cabinets had pulled away from the wall and the foyer was tilting. Several times. He assured me that he would run the beam right up under the kitchen between the kitchen and the foyer, to the garage door —to correct it! I had an intense disagreement with him when he tried to leave and did not make any attempt to correct the damage. The damage they had caused. I used my burial money to correct this sagging in the hall-and they left me with a huge problem with my foyer and kitchen that WASN’T THERE BEFORE, that they caused, & knew they caused. Indiana foundation, now Groundworks, sent Blake to my house under the guise of completing my first adjustment to the main beam, and as I had instructed them, to formulate their repair project based on a certified Home Inspection Specialist that I had hired to let me know what, specifically, Ind Found. should do to correct the serious problem they created. They promised to schedule the repair work at that time, but have ghosted to me ever since coming to see the damage they caused and formulate the repair. I have not been able to get in contact with them since; I’ve left numerous v-mails and texts. They have no integrity towards my project and nor will they have ANY integrity towards yours."

"First I would like to say that everyone I dealt with at ICSR was great! From Erika who made the appointments to Jeremiah who did the inspection, to Terry and his crew. They were all friendly, respectful, and knowledgeable. Jeremiah explained in detail what needed done in my crawlspace. There was a lot of damage due to termites in the past. I knew this was what needed done as I had another Company look at it as well. They backed out because they thought the crawlspace was to narrow to get the work done. I agreed to Jeremiah's plan and about two weeks later Larry and his crew came out to do the work. I will say it again, Larry and his crew were great. They worked so hard and in horrible heat and humidity. They were always friendly and smiled when I saw them. Larry always let me know what they got done that day, and what the plan was for the next. They cleaned up the work area, and took away any and all debris. I have full faith in ICSR and Larry and his crew that the repairs were done right. R-value stands for resistance value and is a number assigned to insulation that states how good the insulation is at heat transference (insulation). The R-value of injection foam is around 4 which homeowners will be happy to know is actually quite good. Another benefit of injection foam versus fiberglass foam is that the colder it gets, the more injection foam retains its resistance properties, whereas fiberglass tends to lose its efficiency in colder temperatures.

Canned spray foam has an R-value of R-3.7 per inch. However, it’s not great for use as insulation. Also known as single-component spray foam, it doesn’t expand as much as two-part types that work for insulating the whole house. Save the canned foam for gaps around doors and windows.

If you need to insulate behind finished walls, the best option will likely be to have an insulation professional install blown-in insulation. The installation requires small holes cut in your wall, after which the installer can blow loose-fill insulation into the void. After the installation, you’ll have minor drywall patching, which shouldn’t cost more than $100. Compared to ripping down the existing drywall, using a different type of insulation, and replacing and finishing the drywall, this should save you hundreds or even thousands, depending on the size of the room you’re insulating.

PEX pipe does not need to be insulated if passing through interior walls or insulated external walls. However, despite its resistance to cracking, you should still insulate PEX pipe in unheated areas if you experience cold winters in your local area. Otherwise, repeated freezing and thawing may weaken the pipes over time and create the risk of bursting.

There are two places where you should not place foam insulation: around electrical boxes or near lightboxes. The foam insulation could get inside the electrical boxes and damage the wiring. Spraying foam too close to a lightbox creates a potential fire hazard; it could also cause damage to the light.
