In 1976, Jeff Gatewood hung a handmade sign and began Allisonville Nursery with 15 spruce trees, hand-dug from a Michigan farm. The 3-acre plot across from the family owned airport in Fishers, Indiana was carved out of farmland that had been in the family for nearly 30 years and housed a 20 x 40 foot structure that once held a flower shop run by Jeff's mother. After moving half a mile north in 1985 after too many close calls with small aircraft, Allisonville Nursery now encompasses 5 acres and has expanded into a 7,500 square foot garden store and gift shop.
