Nichols & Martinez Cleaning ServicesRobert and Maria were awesome. They showed up within minutes of contact and did a very thorough job. Robert even helped me move some heavy items left by the prior home owner. The price was reasonable and I will be using them for some future projects that include mowing my lawn and giving the house a thorough cleaning after the renovation is completed.- Sandra N.

J And J Gutter CleaningJerry did an excellent job. Showed up exactly when he said he would and showed me along the way the issues he encountered - which were plenty since I hadn't had the gutters cleaned in 12 years and pretty sure the prior owners hadn't. Lots and lots of roofing debris. He quoted his price upfront but let me know when he saw the condition that it would be higher - and by higher, I mean an extra $20. Very reasonably priced and I'll be the good homeowner and have him back yearly now. His standard price is more like $130. $180 if you want water run through them (which I did) and $200 if you have a mess because you've neglected them for 20 years.- Jeannie S.

Pro Team Works IncPro Team Works was fine but I wasn't there. They were responsive, it was a reasonable price and left with the place cleaned up.- charles S.

Precise Repair & RemodelScott and his team did a GREAT job! Plus, they finished below budget and ahead of schedule! Because they finished earlier than quoted and used fewer materials, Scott reduced the price without me even asking! His business philosophy is that he wants to do a great job on each job knowing that quality work is what earns repeat and referral business. The word "Precise" in the company's name is CLEARLY for Scott's critical eye and attention to detail. I didn't find a single shingle nail left behind by his guys which is unusual for roof work. He is the kind of guy that a homeowner wants to hire because he doesn't do the work as just a contractor but rather, as a professional with the perspective of a homeowner. The extra touches on things. Scott was able to meet me right away, provide a verbal estimate and then had an official quote to me shortly after that. Because this was a one-day job, he was able fit it into his work schedule only two business days after he quoted me! He and his team showed up early and were very considerate of our home. For example, before removing the skylight, one of his team members recommended that a drop cloth be placed on the floor beneath the skylight to catch any debris. THAT is the kind of thing I would not have thought to do if I were doing it myself! It saved time and the pain of having to clean up a mess. Also, the design of the roof caused water to bypass the gutter and fall directly into the flowerbed below. This eroded not only the mulch but also the dirt and undoubtedly ended up making the sump pump work harder than necessary. His team was able to provide a custom solution to catch and redirect the roof water to the existing gutter while maintaining the aesthetic appeal of the roof design. In addition to that, to get at the gutter behind the basketball backboard one of his guys helped me remove the backboard which was a HUGE help to me! Plus, another guy sealed the holes the backboard left which saved me the trouble of having to do that myself. To top that, I didn't even have to ask him to do it! Then, to test that all of the gutters were straightened, secured and sealed, the guys ran water through all the gutters and ensured that they functioned properly. Lastly, when they were finished, one of Scott's team members did more than just put the garden hose away. He also took the time to coil it up very nicely which even I hate to do! It is a testament to the attention to detail his company provides. Scott and his team are cost conscious and considerate. He had his guys do some extra touch-up and repair work that needed done on the roof "while they were at it" and didn't charge extra for it! Additionally, his team was also able to use some extra shingles I had in the garage which saved me having to pay for a stack of new shingles! The brand new gutter section looks GREAT! When you combine that with the newly sealed skylight, it provides peace of mind about water problems not only to me but also to my wife and THAT is money well spent on a quality, “Precise” job.- Aaron G.

Dave's Window CleaningTheir rep told me that he could do both. He also clued me in that the other company was going to overcharge me for the gutter screens. I was so impressed at how nice and efficient he was. He kept my costs low and even returned to make sure that the job was complete. And how did I find them? Right here on Angie's list.- Cheryl C.

Don't Climb Call MeNo problems. A few minor repairs were done on the gutter straps that the workers identified and asked permission to fix which they did with an additional charge.- Beverley K.

All About Gutters IncOur house is set back in the woods, and the only current gutter system in place were metal sheets that looked like parts of a fence. All About Gutters came out promptly to do the estimate and explained about their Leaf Guard Gutter System. When we were ready to have the work done, I called and the process started. The only glich in my mind was that I had to follow up once our deposit cleared to ask about being scheduled. From then on, the communication was great. Even when rain pushed them back a day, they came out on a Saturday to get our home done. The day after they installed the system, we had a ton of rain - - and for the first time, no waterfalls over the house! They cleaned out all the gutters as they installed, including the drain pipes. They also sprayed down our patio after dumping all the dirt and debris from the gutters. Very professional and curteous. No smoke breaks; overall great experience.- Julie H.

It is hard to find a trust worthy, good quality and reasonably priced contractor these days. I am fortunate to know Scott. He had done a range of medium size projects for me in the last 10 years, ranging from kitchen back splash installation, Range Hood fan installation, to bathroom shower remodeling. I was always impressed with the work quality and competitive pricing. The latest major job he just finished for me this week is a major master bathroom remodeling, which includes installation a new freestanding tub and new title floor, which requests removal of existing jet tub, installing new title, freestanding tub & faucet, vanity, lights, and mirrors. The whole job took a full two weeks to complete. The work is done on time with excellent quality. Overall quote was competitive to begin with and Scott actually completed the job below cost at the end. Hard to find a good and honest contractor like Scott these days.

Had an excellent experience with them about a month ago on the installation of a water softener. The only negative was that they didn't not show up on time and there was no communication. The plumber and helper were professional and did a great job. So, I scheduled with them to have a hot water heater installed. Again they didn't show up during the 10-12 window and again no communication. The plumber arrived 2 hours late (not his fault). I live on a steep hill in the country and he had trouble dealing with that. He complained about the drive, how he didn't know how he would get back down, how the helper would get up, etc. I told him that the last guys from his company parked in the drive and had no issues. Showed him the water heater and told him about an issue that needed fixed. He questioned whether I wanted the issue corrected, which was very strange since he is a master plumber and the inflow/outflow was reversed causing the water heater to work incorrectly. What kind of master plumber would install a new water heater that way? I was upstairs talking on the phone to my daughter about these things when he came storming into my living room (no knock, nothing) and said "Is there a problem"? I told him 'no' as I had had no plans to say anything to him until he started attacking me because he eavesdropped on my conversation and was angry. He was still complaining about the road and I said it's always a problem for people who aren't used to driving in the country. He YELLED,"Do you know how long I've lived in the country? DO YOU?" I said, 'No, I don't even know you." He yelled some more about me making assumptions. I said his behavior was unacceptable and I was calling the office. He said he was, too. Ultimately, the people in the office didn't care about anything I had to say, just gave a pro forma apology and cancelled the job. I asked them to talk to the plumber who did a great job for me previously and ask him how I was to work with if they wanted to know the truth of who was the problem in this instance. Very unfortunate because I was very satisfied with the first plumber.

Recent Review:
The repair was never done; my $1000.00 paid deposit was returned to me after more than a month of waiting for the repair. These are the details: A brick on my chimney was loose and then was dislodged during a wind storm, and other of the chimney bricks were becoming loose. A written estimate for repair of the chimney was provided by Excel. I paid $1000.00 up front, which was half of the estimate, and agreed to pay the other $1000.00 after the work was completed. The Excel company employee set up the scaffold and was preparing to climb and do the repair when an employee of the City of Peoria's electric company, Ameren, pulled up and told the Excel employee to immediately disassemble the platform because it was unsafe: it was too close to the electric lines - that no-one had notified the company that this work was planned so that the wires could be turned off by Ameren during the work. The Ameren employee then called the Excel company owner himself to tell him this, and then the Ameren employee did not leave until the scaffold was completely removed and the Excel employee had left with it. The Excel employee told me before he left that the company would be back in a few days to do the repairs. But more than a month went by and I heard nothing more from them. After more than a month with no repairs done or attempted again, I contacted Excel again and asked them to either do the repairs or return the $1000.00 that I had already paid them. At that point, the Excel company said they would return the money, and they did so.

Recent Review:
Our house remodel started Jan. 25 with the promise of 1 to 2 weeks due to our smaller size home. This was even after we added a few things along the way. Overall, Jim has terrible communication! We went over a week without hearing anything about our house. We ended up paying for labor that wasn't actually done which he admitted to. There are knicks in the flooring, trim, and baseboards. I have spent a lot of time scraping paint off of the brand new floors. Things that weren't broken ended up broken. They only painted half the ceiling and used two different white paints so the walls don't look complete. While some of the workers did what they could to help with communication and completion of the project, Jim was not great to work with. Thank you to Mary and Matt for keeping in contact after not hearing from Jim for over week! When we did hear from Jim, it was to promise the house would be done tomorrow (this happened at least four different times). There was always some excuse. The original timeline was one to two weeks...it's been a month and the house still isn't done 100%. We do NOT recommend working with Jim. Even after contacting him about these issues, he will not respond.
