"Very friendly and professional service. Tim came to my house for an initial consultation. He was very professional and patient and explained everything very well and answered all my questions. I had great confidence I had contacted the right people for the job and that proved to be 100% correct. Josh did EXCELLENT work and is perhaps one of the most polite and respectful people Iâ ve ever met. The whole experience was great and the damage to my walls (caused primarily by movers) disappeared. In fact, I think my walls look better than new! Additionally, he did very clean work. I didnâ t have any dust (from sanding) to cleanup afterward. Itâ s clear that Josh takes great pride in what he does. Iâ ll definitely use 2nd Street Painting for any home repairs or future projects without question. A+++"

"Millikan Masonry got the job done efficiently and with minimal damage to the existing brick enclosure. We had asked a couple of contractors to work on it before contacting Ryan Millikan. These other contractors either just could not remove the rusted box or were prohibitively expensive. Millikan Masonry got it done reasonably and in a couple of hours."

"Ponds to Patios did beautiful work! They took out the old landscaping rock, and overgrown bushes and trees, and added an amazing water feature with surrounding plants and flowers and coordinated all new trees and bushes along the front of our home. We love it! The work was done when scheduled (even though it was the hottest week of the summer!) and the final cost was very close to the original estimate. And, to save us money, Andy was able to take many of the plants and bushes that he removed and replant them in other places in our yard and well as place a few back in the new design in the front. We will definitely call them the next time we need any landscaping ideas or work done."

The layer of polymeric sand under the pavers plus the polymeric sand that gets swept into the joints between your pavers holds them in place in a few ways. For one, the gritty texture of the sand helps lock the pavers together. Polymeric sand also contains bonding agents that get activated by water. Polymeric sand will take between 24 and 48 hours to fully cure, so do not walk on your paver walkway before this time.

Yes, using recycled asphalt millings is an eco-friendly alternative compared to concrete. Millings are reclaimed pieces of gravel that are recycled into aggregate that can be used on driveways, patios, walkways, basketball courts, tennis courts, and more.

Professional installers often include a deep layer of crushed gravel under permeable pavers to allow more runoff to soak through into the soil below. Many installations will include multiple layers of gravel, with coarser aggregate at the base and finer aggregate that sits on top of that bottom layer. Above the gravel, you’ll often find coarse sand that helps reduce paver shifting over time. Some permeable paver designs include a water collection system set into the gravel layer to route runoff to a safe area for disposal.

An example of permeable paving is a set of cinder blocks or natural stone pavers with room inside for natural materials, such as gravel, sand, or grass. You can also design these pavers with brick or plastic tiles.

In addition to these pavers, permeable pavement can be obtained by using a highly porous material, such as pervious concrete or pervious asphalt.

While blacktop is a type of asphalt, the terms should not be used interchangeably, as not all asphalt qualifies as blacktop. The primary differences are in their composition, production process, and ideal applications. Blacktop contains more stone than other types of asphalt and is heated to a higher temperature during production—300°F or more—while hot-mix asphalt is heated to between 275°F and 300°F. The ratio of bitumen (a tar-like crude oil) is a key differentiator, though sources vary: some state blacktop has less bitumen, making it less durable, while others claim it has a higher ratio. Due to these differences, asphalt is generally more durable and better for high-traffic areas like highways and streets, while blacktop is more suitable for playgrounds and residential driveways. For a driveway project, it is best to consult a professional to determine the most appropriate material.
