"Don't expect to have everything perfectly done. He does a great job in preparing you to do your end of the job which is straightening up organizing the area so you'll have to do a little cleanup which I did not mind doing. So I would say he did a fine job Nick is a fine guy and he is reasonable with the pricing I am very pleased. The only reason why I gave four stars is to make you realize that everything is not going to be just perfect perfect after the job is done. I guess if you went to you can pay more and have the cleanup done to your satisfaction. You have to ask him how much extra that would cost. Make sure you have a contract with what is expected and the time involved how many days it will take. And after you have the contract satisfaction as to what is expected what is nice is that you pay him after the job is done which I really like that too. This was a four-day project of clearing out Autumn olives and honeysuckles out of a 5 acre field, and he put in a 50 x 100 ft pond and he did remove some tree removal on the fence line cleaning out the 600 ft . fence line . Now it's my job to clean up the leftover trash of autumn olives and honeysuckle off the ground. Now it's my job too smooth out and plant the seed on the dam. Now it's my job to clean up cut up the trees that were removed off of the fence line. The only thing I would do different is I would not have any trees moved off to the fence line just the brush. That would be less clean up for me. Contract first pay later I love it. And you know when you do straighten up afterwards you kind of put your own few touches in to make it the way you really want it to be."

Land Clearing Services questions, answered by experts

Before scheduling land surveying in Salem, gather your property deed, any previous survey maps, title insurance, and Marion County tax records. Record the property address, parcel number, and note visible boundary markers, existing fences, or structures. Document utility locations, known easements, and any neighbor disputes. Clearly define your survey goals, such as new construction or resolving property boundaries, and take photos of any unclear property lines to help your surveyor.

Helpful?

Land surveying in Salem can be more complex when properties have irregular terrain, agricultural drainage systems, or limited seasonal access. Overlapping historical deeds, missing boundary markers, or multiple utility easements also add challenges. If your property crosses city boundaries, lies within a floodplain, or is part of a historic area, expect additional steps to comply with local and county property boundary regulations.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Salem frequently request land surveying for subdividing farmland, clarifying property boundaries for new builds, and preparing for property sales. Fence line surveys remain common in rural areas, while detailed boundary surveys are popular for residential growth. There’s also increased interest in surveys for conservation easements and floodplain mapping, reflecting Salem’s blend of agricultural land and expanding residential neighborhoods.

Helpful?

In Salem, land surveying is recommended if you encounter unclear property boundaries, encroaching fences, or discrepancies in your property’s legal description. If you’re planning to build near your property edge or resolve a neighbor dispute, a survey is essential. For issues like foundation cracks or drainage problems, consult a structural or civil engineer, as those concerns are outside the scope of land surveying in IL.

Helpful?

Surveyors in Salem review local property records, historic plats, and deed descriptions to establish property boundaries. Using GPS and total station equipment, they locate existing survey markers and compare them to recorded measurements. Both natural features and man-made markers are considered, and surveyors ensure their findings align with IL regulations and any city-specific requirements for properties within Salem’s limits.
