"The one star is for my designer who was great - everything else after that initial meeting has been a disaster. I ordered my drapes from Smith and Noble which has now been taken over by 3 day blinds. You cannot currently book installations. You have to give the scheduler a few options that work for you, and then wait for the install department to confirm your choice. I have been waiting for 10 days for someone to confirm my appointment and despite numerous follow up calls, I have not made any progress. I was told during one of these calls that There are currently no installers that work the area to hang the blinds up. No-one is able to help, and management don't return calls."

Window Tinting questions, answered by experts

The life span of window tints depends on the type of window and tint, but a high-quality, professionally applied tint should last for at least 15 to 20 years. In fact, some companies offer lifetime warranties for their tints. But others might only offer a warranty for one year (or no warranty at all), so be sure to verify any warranties with your preferred window tinting service and take good care of your windows after the tint is applied.

Home window tinting costs around $600 on average, and most homeowners pay between $150 and $1,600 for the service, depending on a few different factors. The number of windows you want tinted and the size of those windows are the most significant cost factors, as each window and each additional square foot of tint will add to your total. The quality of the tint itself is another important cost factor to consider, as additional coatings like low-emissivity (low-E) treatment will increase the cost of the materials.

The most energy-efficient windows are double—or triple-pane windows with low-emissivity (Low-E) coatings and gas fills between the panes. These windows reduce heat transfer, prevent drafts, and help maintain a consistent indoor temperature. But if replacing windows isn’t in your budget, pairing your existing windows with insulating window treatments can still make a noticeable difference in home comfort and monthly bills.

Installing tinting on your own home windows is possible, but not recommended. It’s very easy to make mistakes that leave visible bubbles or imperfections in the protective coating. Not only does this look unprofessional and detract from your home’s curb appeal, but it also limits the usefulness of the tint and may still let sunlight and solar heat through your windows. If you attempt the application yourself and mess up, you’ll pay more for the wasted material and the labor to hire a tinting professional to fix the issues.

Use a combination of blackout methods to truly black out your windows. If you want to eliminate all light from your room, try installing a very dark tinted film and then putting up blackout shades over the entire window. Reach out to a professional and request some custom-made shades for the best result.
