Providing wildlife removal services as well as general pest control services. Specializing in animal removal from structures. Chimney capping services as well as custom animal guard installation. Sanitation and restoration services also available.

"As the director of a non-profit organization in a small town, I know how unusual it is to find such a capable, knowledgeable, courteous, and prompt technician to come and help with unwelcome “visitors” to your property. We could not have asked for a better experience in dealing with an ant invasion, along with skunks and racoons burrowing under our buildings. Gerrod was always pleasant to deal with and diligent to explain the procedures and costs involved. He responded quickly and took care of our problems in a most timely manner. His wealth of knowledge and professionalism set him apart from others I have dealt with. I highly recommend When Nature Calls Pest Control and will not hesitate to contact Gerrod again if needed."

John Richards established Tree Care Enterprises, Inc. in September 1978. John earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Forestry from Michigan Technological University in 1977. Soon thereafter he started Tree Care Enterprises as a one man operation. A short time later Doug Edwards was hired. John and Doug are two of our seven Certified Arborists. Doug is now the Vice President in charge of operations. John Richards is still President and involved with running Tree Care on a daily basis. In 2007, Tree Care Enterprises, Inc. became a Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) accredited company. This prestigious recognition is awarded to only the finest and most professional companies. We then created a safety position and formed an employee safety committee. In 2008, Kurt Weidner and Doug Edwards attended a Certified Tree Care Safety Program (CTSP) to support the companys commitment to continuing education and safety. This extensive program works with the companys training staff to develop safety and training programs for the current work force. This advanced training system will enable Tree Care Enterprises to employ a work force that has been properly trained in all aspects of the Green Industry. Worker safety, safe work zones and industry standards create the backbone of the current curriculums being developed. Both Kurt and Doug have worked in the Green Industry and have extensive experience in the emergency response field. From the beginning, Tree Care Enterprises, Inc. has operated on the basis that quality work from professional and knowledgeable employees would make us a successful company. We are growing and are now celebrating our 31st year in business!

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

In some states and municipalities, you will need a permit to remove a tree on your property. In many cases where permits are required, a tree must reach a maximum height before a permit is required to remove it. You can either ask your local building department or a tree removal professional if you’ll need a permit. If you do, you can expect to pay between $50 and $150 for the permit alone. Your tree removal company should pull the permit for you and include the permit fee in your total.

Unfortunately, palm tree stumps are one of the most difficult types to remove due to how their roots grow. Unlike other trees, palm tree roots grow horizontally and vertically. Palm tree roots grow as deep as three feet into the ground, although soil and growing conditions could mean they go as far as 50 inches into the earth.

If you want to be able to repurpose the grass in the area where you removed a stump later, you’ll have to dig quite deep—and perhaps wide—to trim away all the roots.

Some signs that a tree needs to be cut down and removed include:

  • There’s visible damage to the trunk or branches.

  • The tree is leaning significantly.

  • It’s growing too close to a house, power lines, or other structures.

  • The tree has a pest infestation.

The best time to prune Japanese flowering cherry trees depends on where you live and the type of flowering cherry tree. Some trees benefit from being pruned toward the end of winter or early spring, after the last freeze. Meanwhile, other trees do well after blooming, in late spring or early summer. Avoid pruning your flowering cherry tree in the early winter, as this encourages open wounds that can lead to infections or infestations.

According to scientists at Penn State University, spotted lanternflies do not typically kill the trees and plants they feed on, but they can cause branches and segments to die off. However, they have been found to kill cultivated grapes, which can have devastating consequences for vineyard owners and regions that heavily rely on vineyards to create jobs and generate revenue. They have also killed the Ailanthu altissima, known as the tree of heaven, though this is classified as a noxious and invasive weed tree.
