"We have used Brook's Creek on two different fencing jobs. The first was an aluminum fence for our dog 40' x 100' in the back. The second was a cedar fence down the property line. The crew chief was the same on both jobs and he, as well as the workers, were very professional as well as working fast and continuously. They cleaned up after the job and helped with the dirt removed from the post holes. I highly recommend this company! Ideally, when you replace a fence post, you should also replace the concrete footing. The concrete bonds to your new post, creating a secure base. If you install a new post into old concrete, it won’t be as sturdy.

That said, it is possible. Sometimes the post will lift right out of the concrete. If not, you can use a high-lift car jack to try and lift the pole out of the footing. Put the new post into the same hole and backfill it with fast-setting concrete. Keep in mind, this won’t work well for metal posts.

Generally, the height of your dog fence should be 3 times the distance from the ground to your dog’s shoulder. For most small breeds, a 4-foot high fence will be more than enough to keep them from jumping out. Medium-sized breeds like Golden Retrievers, Labradors, and German Shepherds will need at least a 5-6 foot fence to stay contained. Large breeds that are also excellent jumpers, such as Greyhounds, may need a 7-foot high fence. 

Barbed wire fences are one of the most inexpensive farm fence options thanks to their simple materials, so if you’re working with a low budget, they’re a good option. Barbed wire fences are suitable for confining docile animals in large spaces since they provide a visual barrier and light injury if pressed against. 

Black chain-link fences last an average of 15 to 20 years. The thicker a fence's wire gauge, the longer it will tend to last. The black vinyl coating gives the fence rust and corrosion resistance, but its life span may be lower in wet, humid, or coastal climates where moisture or salty air can corrode the coating more quickly.

  • Chain link fencing is an affordable but not visually appealing option.

  • Vinyl panel fencing is less easily damaged than wood. 

  • Wood fencing is customizable but requires regular maintenance.

  • Electric fencing eliminates the need for a traditional fence, but it could be painful to your pet. 

  • Picket fencing adds to your curb appeal but won’t contain most pets.
