Currently a one-man show. Very dedicated to quality, and as an honorably discharged United States Marine, strive to do my best in everything I do. I also put a large importance on customer satisfaction, and always leave a job site looking better than when I arrived.

Sole proprietor business, 11 years experience in furniture repair. Some estimates can be given over the phone based on customer explanation of damage, otherwise a trip fee of 50 cents a mile round trip with a minimum of $20.00 will be charged to assess damage and give a estimate for repair. Most repairs not needing specialty parts can be repaired immediately after estimate is given. Trip fee is due upon estimate completion or if repairs cannot be performed immediately. If repair is authorized and can be completed immediately trip fee and repair fees can be paid in total after repair is completed.

Furniture Refinishing questions, answered by experts

This depends on the furniture. It’s certainly fine for wood, metal, or composite materials to get wet. The same cannot be said for affiliated cushions and coverings. Many of these adjacent items claim to be water-resistant, but poorly-made accessories take longer to dry, leaving plenty of time for mold to grow. Keep an eye on how your furniture stands up to rain before going in with a pressure washer.

Whether it is worth it to ship your bedroom furniture depends on your priorities, but it can be hard to decide. You should ship your bedroom furniture if the pieces have sentimental or antique value and if it will make you happy to have them in your new home. But if your mattress or box spring is worn out (the average lifespan of a bed is seven to ten years), it's probably not worth the money or effort to ship if you’re moving somewhere where bedroom furniture is readily available.

Ongoing maintenance of your leather furniture is the only way to prevent it from peeling and cracking. Real leather will peel and crack as it dries out. Leather conditioners are a great way to protect your leather furniture from drying out, and you’ll need to apply it about twice each year. It’s also a good idea to keep abrasive materials away from your leather to prevent cracking and peeling, including belt buckles, shoes, and multi-surface cleaners, especially those that contain alcohol.

Avoid using wood filler for structural repairs or areas with extensive damage. Wood filler is designed for cosmetic fixes like filling small holes, cracks, or surface imperfections, and it doesn't provide the strength needed for load-bearing repairs or large gaps. You also shouldn’t use wood filler in areas exposed to heavy moisture or extreme outdoor conditions unless it’s a product specifically rated for such environments. Wood replacement or a strong epoxy resin is a better solution for severe rot or structural damage.

Yes, refinishing can decrease or even diminish the value of antique furniture, as most collectors look for original finishes to maintain the piece’s historical integrity. Learning how to clean antique wood and carefully restore the finish without stripping it is the best way to maintain the piece’s original value. Either way, it’s best to take it to a professional furniture refinishing and restoration expert rather than attempting a DIY restoration.
