This is the WORST experience I have ever had with movers. They did not wrap my furniture, and all of it is scratched, gouged, marred and broken. I have an antique oak headboard and footboard. There is a plank snapped right out of the footboard. I have an antique mirror, full size with a wooden frame - the pedestal is snapped off and is nowhere to be found. Antique secretary scratched down the front. These are the most egregious, although every piece of furniture is damaged in some way. When they unloaded the truck into storage, they put furniture on top of boxes on top of furniture. Crystal glasses clearly marked and with FRAGILE written all over the boxes were placed on the bottom of much heavier items. This move should have taken six hours - I know because I moved it into a house on three levels. They took twelve hours to complete the move. I have tried everything possible including submitting a claim, and there is no recompense. Not only that, the manager, Charlie, is unwilling to accept that his movers caused any damage at all, claiming those items were all damaged before we moved them. He was rude, uncooperative, dishonest, and disrespectful. In the end of many phone calls, letters and a consult with a lawyer, he offered me 30c per pound for the damaged furniture, and then told me 2 Men and a Truck would keep the furniture. I have read other reviews VERY similar to this from all over the country. Every time the response from 2 Men has been to evade and ignore the situation, choosing instead to blame the client. Here's where I blame myself: I should have done MUCH more research before hiring them. Horrible. Read all of the reviews. Terrible movers, terrible experience.

I found the moving company on Angie's list and the rating was an A. When I called to set up the move, I talked to a very friendly woman who listened to what we needed and proceeded with the appropriate questions to collect the information to set up the move. They were able to accommodate us on the date we needed.
Robert and Harold showed up on time and the first thing they did was to introduced themselves. They were very prompt, professional, and polite. They wrapped and moved our belongings in a very timely manner.
Will recommend to others and also would use them again.
I agree with the rating of an A and will say that you earned it.
Thanks for all your help.

This move was a very poor experience. During my first discussion with this company's rep I asked if we'd have an onsite quote. From articles I've read I was always informed to ask for an in person quote. I was told this was not necessary. Since I received this company's information from a very nice person I threw my trust into this person and I think I was naive. I had only hired movers once before and it was a very minimal amount of stuff. This time I had more but since I hadn't done this before I didn't know how much my stuff would "weigh". I was told that 5000 pounds costs approx 1500 dollars, I gave a deposit and off we went. I underestimated the amount of stuff I had but a proper quote would have solved this as I would have been given a heads up that I may have heavier/ more than 5000 pounds.
On the other side, the actual movers were super friendly and worked hard. My only issue was that I was told they had to hit a weigh station to get the weight of the truck. I was never shown the weight of the truck pre-load nor the weight of the truck post load. the trip between my old house and new house took an incredible amount of time and it was well into the evening before things were finished. A third mover was added to get things done quickly and again the mover was great and worked really fast. Things were going pretty well.
My wife signed the documents and the movers left. I saw that the price of the move jumped 500 dollars. I looked and nowhere on the document was the amount of weight the truck had. This I found curious. My move was dependent on weight but there was no weight on my documents.
I called and emailed the rep I worked with to set this up and no response. It is now two months later and still no response. I've never had a company just go silent on me.
In summary, no in person quote was the part that initially broke this deal. The documents to support the increase in price were never shared with us. The rep we worked with never responded to voicemail or email.
On my side I could have given a better description of what was needed to be moved BUT this would have been solved with a better quoting process, a more transparent declaration of weight for the price addition and finally a rep that would have actually responded.

The movers were very professional and took great care in moving our furniture without scratching the floors ( a serious flaw done by a mover I'd previously used)
They were great on picking up the large pieces and placing them exactly where we wanted them to be. The move took most of the day, but they kept a good attitude and remained very polite.
We would definitely recommend this company to any of our friends who are in need of this service.

I cannot say enough good things about Two Men and A Truck. Right from the first phone call and the follow ups the day before, the office staff made the planning of the move easy. They sent an extensive spreadsheet to me ahead of time so I could fill it in and return to them for an estimate and had great advice on how to coordinate the moving of the appliances to a separate location. They called me the day before to explain to me what would happen the day of the move and what time to expect the movers.
The movers were on time and made sure that they introduced themselves to us. They got to work right away, blanketing and wrapping the furniture with plastic so the blankets would stay on. We had several large, odd shaped heavy pieces that had to come up and go downstairs. When two pieces would not go down at the new house, they worked and worked at getting a soloution on how to best accomodate the pieces.
The three young men we had were super polite. I was worried that a couple of pieces were too heavy and they assured me that they could handle it. We also had some totes that had not been dusted off very well, and they were okay with moving them. When the furniture arrived across town, they placed it where I wanted and if I wanted it moved, they would move it again.
Coty, Artis and Chris from Two Men and a Truck made our move very easy for us. I would use and recommend this company to anyone in a heart beat!

They asked me where I wanted each item placed, and lined up the furniture nicely, and then asked me, if it looked okay. They re-aligned the bed, when I decided that it would look more centered, if moved over about 6 inches. They took EXTRA care in maneuvering the super-long couch between the entrance hall-way and the living room door - it was an extremely TIGHT squeeze, but no damage was done to the couch or door. The two movers were polite, clean, and didn't scratch or mar any of the furniture. They charge for the round-trip, so we saved a little money, as their office was within 3 miles of Mom's apartment.

Customer service at all times! The order went through easily-with Brittany's Help. Box buy was wonderful! Movers were courteous to my husband, me, and each other! They never dawdled and gave great service! Company worked to give ME the most for my money.

The movers showed up 15 minutes early. That was good. They did a thorough examination of the things they were to move. They wrapped what needed to be wrapped in plastic and padded what needed to be padded. Excellent job. I was charged by the hour. They finished the job in less time than what was estimated. I would use Two Men and A Truck again.

The service of Two Men and A Truck went very well. They were prompt, efficient, friendly and hardworking. They were extra cautious in making sure that the things didn't break and my walls were protected.
Response from Two Men and A Truck
"Thank you very much for your response!.. As a fairly new company in the Peoria market, remarks like these help!"

Hiring Two Men and a Truck was worth every penny. The company was in contact with me several times before the move, including the day before, which was nice. I knew that I was the 2nd move of the day for the 2 guys who were coming to move us. They were supposed to arrive between 12:00 and 2:00 PM, but called around 10:30 saying they would be late. They ended up delaying a 2nd time because the first customers had more goods than they originally said they had. I understand this happens, and I luckily was not in a rush that day, otherwise this would have upset me more. The movers finally arrived around 3:15 PM. I helped them load the truck, not because I needed to, but because I knew it would save time and I wasn't going to just stand around watching. The destination was only about 5 miles from the origin, so the drive didn't take long. We finished unloading around 8:00 PM, which was almost exactly what they quoted.
The two guys who were on the job were extremely professional. They wrapped our wood furniture to prevent dings. We had no damages to either our goods or our new home. I was extremely pleased with the move.

They worked really hard, but they only estimated one day for the job when it was really a two day job.
They ended up working for over 12 hours to get it all done in one day, and they also chipped a few pieces of furniture, which they are repairing for me.
The final price came in over their estimate because of this.
Not sure if I would use them again in the future...would make sure they estimated the job correctly.

We were satisfied with the speed of the move but they damaged a lot of our stuff. They were expensive. Their responsiveness was good. We had a lot of damage and I’m getting a refund now, I’ve been following up from June.

I am elderly and in a wheel chair. I was very nervous about this move. They were so kind and gentle with the move. It was raining that day. They had a lot of pads and took care of everything. They set up the furniture for me and made me comfortable before they left. They were very polite and very nice men.
I would use them again and I have referred them to many people. They were very reasonably priced.
