"We didn't have the work done in the end. The bathroom faucet we wanted to install was a Grohe faucet. We purchased a "deal" to install a bathroom faucet. The plumber said that the deal did not include Grohe and offered to do it for an up charge. But, the up charge wasn't budgeted so we didn't have the work done."

"As many people in the Chicagoland area likely experienced, we had some plumbing issues as a result of the Great Polar Vortex of 2019. Since we were running our water to prevent pipes from freezing, we found that we had drainage issues with our upstairs bathroom. We noticed a leak staining our kitchen ceiling and basement wall so we figured it was coming from the upstairs bathroom since that's where we had the sink turned on to drip. Guillermo came over on a Saturday to take a look at the problem. He arrived on time but wasn't 100% prepared for the task at hand. I was a little concerned with his indecisiveness on where to begin looking for a problem. He kept asking me where I wanted him to cut into the wall and look but I'm not the professional, you are. I guess maybe he was doing it because he was going to have to cut into drywall and he wanted me to give him permission to do it so I wouldn't be mad? I'm not sure but it wasn't super professional especially since I have no clue what is going on inside the walls. I don't know what different types of leaks look like and, presumably, he does. He ended up cutting way too much drywall, including in the back of the pipes and then couldn't even see the drain pipe to the plumbing he was there to inspect. Our insurance likely won't cover that so we'll be on the hook for repairing it. Sigh. Once Guillermo guessed the source of the leak, the plumber still had questions. He basically said he could cut into the ceiling under the toilet and look around or take the toilet out and see if it was a flange issue. He wanted me to make that call even though I don't know anything about plumbing. Of course, he cuts into more drywall, can't see a leak, so he still has to go take the toilet off. Turns out the toilet and the drain pipe were the issues. In the midst of cutting into the ceiling, the plumber realizes he doesn't have a ladder tall enough to see into the ceiling and neither do we. He has to go to a hardware store in the middle of all this to get one and then he comes back with a broken one (not his fault, but such a time suck). So he's out again to get a new ladder to replace the broken one just so he can look up into our ceiling. I feel like all the plumbers should be equipped with ladders and other equipment they might need in all kinds of houses because we aren't the only people in Chicago with high ceilings. That ended up being 90 minutes of time we'd never get back just waiting for him to come back and finish the diagnosis. Once we figured that out, we waited for the instillation crew to come in and replace a few feet of drain pipe and install a new flange for the toilet. We had to wait four days for someone to come and do the install which seems a bit long for a job that takes about two hours. Same thing happened with the install crew: they didn't have the correct size flange so they had to stop work and go to the hardware store. They were gone for almost an hour so my husband was just stuck waiting. They did a good job on the install once they were back and had the right equipment so our toilet is in fine, working order and draining properly. We ended up paying about $1900 for all of this work, the majority of which was labor costs. It really seems a bit high that these guys are making about $250 an hour for "work" that included going to Home Depot to get more supplies that they didn't come with in the first place. The work they did shouldn't have even taken that long and I got stuck with the bill, which seems odd. Another $375 of that was just to let the first plumber make holes in my wall that weren't totally necessary just to discover the toilet flange wasn't big enough. I know that it's not his fault that he couldn't see that the toilet was installed improperly from the outside, but it was really upsetting to have the plumber basically ask me what to do in terms of where to look for plumbing problems I know nothing about. Their customer service was always nice and easy to deal with, so that was a plus. Overall, I am happy with the work that they did since my toilet works and is no longer leaking, but I felt like the process of dealing with the plumbers in the house was somewhat unprofessional since the first didn't seem to know what to do and both sets of plumbers did not come prepared with the equipment they needed to do their jobs."

"Our home had an abandoned catch basin in the backyard that had previously collected stormwater from the downspouts, as well as grease from the kitchen. The previous owner had made improvements that eliminated the catch basin from service, but they left it in place. It was in the way of exterior improvements we wanted to make, so we needed to have it filled so it could be paved over.
I contacted Lincoln first to have the basin televised to confirm it was no longer needed. I was quoted a reasonable price (approximately $150) to come televise, and they were able to come on a Saturday morning to accommodate my schedule. Robert and his crew arrived as scheduled and were able to very quickly determine that the basin was not in service and could be sealed and filled. I scheduled that work for the following Tuesday morning, and since the televising effort had been minimal, I was not charged for the televising, and a very nominal fee was instead added to the price to seal and fill.
Robert and crew arrived right as scheduled on Tuesday morning and very quickly sealed the existing pipes into and out of the catch basin with mortar before filling it with gravel and sand. They left the site cleaner than when they'd arrived and I was very happy with the work.
I will not hesitate to use Lincoln Sewer any future needs. I plan to have them install a cleanout on our sewer main next spring.

"Mike and Matt were great, they were skilled, efficient, and friendly. I thought replacing an under-mount stainless steel sink in an existing granite cutout would be very difficult at best. I knew replacing the faucet and disposal would be a routine job. I was pleasantly surprised that the entire job went fine and they were finished in 2.5 hours. They cleaned up the work area and hauled away the old sink, etc. I will say that their prices are high, but I was willing to pay for quality work, especially with the tricky sink replacement."

"This guy is the man! I called him because my kitchen sink was leaking and my disposal sounded like it was dying. He came out and super honest and professional. He fixed the garbage disposal in about 30 seconds and then looks at my pipping. He told me that I needed new pipes under the sink and have me an estimate of $250. He then went to bathroom sink bc it was also leaking and told me I needed a new faucet. He came back 1 week later and replaced All of it! The pipes were $250 and the faucet was $250 (because he had to buy it and then install it) I will use him all the time moving forward!"

"Everything went great. Having repeated back-ups in the basement I decided it was time to do something. Black Diamond came out and put a snake camera down the access pipe while I watched. I was able to see the several places where roots had become an issue in the outside pipe. After explaining my options clearly I decided to have them install an outside access pipe to get to the "root" of the problems more easily. The pricing was fair and they came out exactly when they said they would - even though the temps were around zero outside! Despite the cold the work was done pretty quickly. The only drawback is a minor one. A mound was left behind at the dig site which I was told would settle after the ground thawed and perhaps some rains. It did settle a little bit, but there is still a good sized mound of dirt in my front yard. No big deal. I have had no plumbing issues since they installed the pipe and did a proper routing of the pipes. Overall great job.

"This is the second time I have worked with Windy City plumbing and they are great. For this services they provided an estimate of $240 for the work of removing the old tub overflow and waste and installing a new one as well as an estimate for a kitchen sink drain. They showed up on time for the estimate (i decided not to do the sink) and for the work. They completed the work quickly and checked with throughout for all decision such as using the built-in drain stopper or the existing drain basket which we went with.
At the end of the job, because the work wasn't as much as they had estimated Jose only charged me $125 even though I had agreed already to the initial estimate. Above and beyond my expectations in every regard and I would recommend them to anyone!

"My sink repair went well, the two guys that came troubled-shooted the problem with my washroom sink, and fixed it as a team. However, in roughly 3-4 months after the repair, I had the same problem again. But I did appreciate the promptness of service toward the job, and the fact that the price range was within reason of what I could afford. Also at the time, the serviceman seemed to be really skilled at what they were doing, and they did succeed in fixing my sink."

"Dominick was very professional in his analysis of our needs. Understood our budget and provided a quote during his first visit. Followed up and did not exert any high pressure tactics while we waited for quotes from competitors. Always available to answer questions. Installation crew was prompt, very courteous and their installation was skilled. Crew had to move both washer and dryer in order to gain access to sump pit. Cleanup was very thorough and without any complaints. Would do business with this company again and recommend them to anyone."

Sink Installation questions, answered by experts

Leaks, clogged drains, cracked basins, and worn-out seals are common problems that may require professional repair.

Pedestal sinks typically come with two pieces: the pedestal (also known as the base or pole) and the sink basin. You may hear it referred to as a standalone sink. The sink sits on top of the pedestal, which attaches to the floor and hides the plumbing. Both pieces usually come in porcelain or ceramic.

Yes, a dripping faucet can increase your water bill. Leaking faucets use up more water than you’d think. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, a faucet that drips once per second can waste more than 3,000 gallons of water per year. If you have more than one dripping faucet, your water bill can increase even further.

Whether a pot filler is worth it depends on your cooking habits, budget, and kitchen layout. For avid home cooks who frequently prepare pasta, soups, or stocks, the convenience of filling large pots directly on the stove can be a significant benefit. A pot filler can also add value to a home, attracting potential buyers with its combination of luxury and utility. However, the installation can cost around $800. The return on this investment is highest in larger kitchens where the sink is far from the stove. In smaller kitchens, where the sink is nearby, a pot filler might be perceived as an unnecessary feature by some homeowners or potential buyers.
