"I had an appt. set up that I couldn’t make an made an attempt to cancel prior. The day of I received a text asking if we were still meeting today. I texted back saying I thought I had canceled but could not meet that day. I received 2 texts back that were not professional, the 2nd text stating I should be more responsible. I waited 2 days and called the guy back (Rick) and discussed the situation. I did ask him if that was an appropriate response he provided and he said probably not. I then hung up. I received more texts back that were not professional so I called again to talk to him. He states he never received a cancellation from me but I did make an attempt at the number I thought was his. I’m not sure what happened and I asked him if he was so desperate for work that he treats all cancellations like this. Rick was really only interested in letting me know how irresponsible I am. That’s his end game. That’s the message he wanted to hammer home to me. He said he wasn’t on his way when he called the day of to confirm so I’m not sure what his issues are but he really likes to play the irresponsible customer angle. I would avoid this business at all costs, you never know what kind of text/call, etc. you will receive, unless you prefer to deal with junior high school behavior. With this type of mindset, you probably don’t want him in your home either."

Upon returning to fix it the following day, my concerns grew. Months later, a baluster fell due to poor installation; I discovered that he had only secured one-third of the balusters with screws, using nails for the remainder. This led to warping from outdoor exposure, necessitating the replacement of all ten balusters I ordered. Recently, while leaning on the railing, it shifted under my weight. Despite contacting Scott, he has not responded. I strongly advise against hiring SJS Handyman; their unprofessionalism includes delayed work, unexcused absences, and the inappropriate use of old materials in the project."
