"M.A.R.S is the company we chose for the job. They were nice, but completely dishonest about the entire job. They never tested to confirm if it was asbestos, only confirmed that it looked like it. I was ok with that. The owner stated his team will come in to work, it would take 6-8 hours. We were told we needed not be inside the home while the work was being done. They informed us they needed to use a machine and it heavy to assist with removal. The day of the job the team came did the job in two hours and used nothing but solvent and scrappers to work. No mask, no protective gear. The cost that was quoted did not match the work. We choose that company because of all they claimed. It just never happened. I received the paperwork stating it was free from contamination and we were safe. We have no problem paying for good work. I feel they took advantage of our situation. I had received quotes from 3 other companies and they were much cheaper, but again we choose MARs, never again. "

Since the EPA partially banned asbestos use in 1989, it is not commonly used in siding in the United States. Many other countries, such as Iceland, Canada, and Denmark, also have bans on asbestos. However, asbestos siding is still present in homes built before the late 1980s. Remember, the only surefire way to know if your home or siding contains asbestos is to have it lab-tested by a professional. 

When asbestos damages the lungs it causes a condition called “asbestosis” which, unfortunately, can’t be cured once it’s damaged the lungs. This condition is chronic and any treatment is undertaken to improve quality of life. This usually involves quitting smoking, being prescribed oxygen, and undergoing lung rehab. Severe cases usually require a lung transplant.

While it's possible to cover asbestos tile with carpet, it's not recommended. Encapsulating tile beneath carpet doesn't eliminate the health risks. Over time, the asbestos tiles could degrade, releasing fibers into the air and potentially contaminating the carpet. Disturbance during carpet installation or removal might also release fibers.

When asbestos fibers become airborne, they enter a person's respiratory system. These fibers scar and damage the lungs and often lead to serious cancers like mesothelioma.
