"We replaced our bathtub with a walk in shower, and are extremely happy with the work that was provided. In only took one person 6 hours to complete the job, and he was very professional and the quality of work was great. Would hire them again."

"Mr. Fairfield responded quickly to my contact and generated a quick & reasonable estimate for a general bathroom repair and replacement of fixtures job. He clearly knew what he was doing and completed the work on time and within the contracted budget. I wouldn't hesitate at all in setting up future home repair work with him."

Customers say: Quick response

"I am very pleased with the work Alex has done for me and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone, and in fact, I have done that on multiple occasions. He is very professional and does high-quality work no matter what the task. His bills are very reasonable and there are no *surprise* costs at the end of the job. Alex has done multiple projects for me but I could only pick one from the list above. If you are interested in the details of the jobs he has done for me that resulted in my ratings, keep reading. If not, you have the important information. He painted 2 rooms, one of which needed significant repair of the drywall before it could be painted. He did an excellent job. You cannot tell there was any damage at all. I needed a bedroom door replaced. I had no idea what stain had been used on the door when it was originally stained 25 years ago. Alex took the time to examine different stain colors until he found the one that best matched the other doors. He did a great job. You cannot tell which door has been replaced."

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

Professionals can enhance bathroom aesthetics by recommending and implementing design elements such as modern fixtures, high-quality tiles, and efficient layouts. They ensure cohesive style, compliment functionality, and an enhanced visual appeal in the space.

Acrylic tubs are extremely durable and rarely chip or crack. Even when frequently used, tubs made with this material are largely resistant to damage. However, damage may occur as the tub ages. They can also crack from damage from heavy objects and cleaners or a lack of support.

Whether replacing a bathtub with a shower affects your home's value depends on several factors, with the most significant being whether it's the only tub in the house. Removing the sole bathtub can lower a home's value because many prospective buyers, particularly families with young children or pets, require at least one.

However, a tub-to-shower conversion can also increase home value. A modern walk-in shower is often seen as an upgrade in a secondary bathroom and can be a desirable feature for its accessibility and style, appealing to older homebuyers or those without children. The overall impact is also influenced by your local real estate market and its typical buyer demographic.

If your bathroom layout allows, installing both a freestanding bathtub and a separate shower can be an ideal solution that appeals to the widest range of potential buyers.

Different bathtub materials have various advantages and disadvantages. Cast iron and copper are considered the most durable materials because they are dense and resistant to damage from scratches or dents. However, cast-iron tubs are heavy, expensive, and may not be suitable for upper floors. Copper offers unique benefits but requires regular chemical treatment to prevent a patina from forming, making cast iron a less maintenance-intensive option. Porcelain is a good second choice for durability. For those on a budget, acrylic is a popular option, though it is less durable.

The order of your bathroom renovation should prevent damage to the completed work. Start with demolition and removing the old fixtures. Then, address structural repairs or water damage, if needed. Next, tackle the rough-in phase for plumbing and electrical work, install waterproofing, and work on wall treatments like tile or paint. Install your shower or bathtub, toilet, vanity, and sink. Flooring goes in after major fixtures but before the toilet. Lastly, install new lighting fixtures, mirrors, and other finishing touches as desired.
