"Pro showed up two hours later than originally scheduled, an hour later than they request we change it to, 30 min later than they told me the day of. Showed up at 1, left at 2:15 because they “forgot their mop.” Didn’t finish any task. A couple days later, we’ve realized that multiple packets of marijuana edibles are missing. Generally, we will discuss payment. It largely depends on the scope of the project. You and I will sit down and discuss completion goals, and if a large project, payment may be required in measurable and pre approved stages.

Yes, you should hire a handyman who’s licensed, certified, and insured, if possible. States have different requirements for handyman licensing, registration, and certifications. If licensing is required in your area, you may pay more for a licensed handyman with experience than one who is not licensed or certified, but you’re likely to get a better end result for your project. Being certified and/or licensed typically provides the customer with a level of comfort when hiring a handyman, but is not always a guarantee of quality work.
