"BEWARE consumers. This company was hired by another company to install an irrigation system on a new construction. I didn't know anything about this type of thing so, unfortunately, thought they knew what they were doing since they were hired by a landscaper(also very poor workmanship) who was hired by my builder(excellent). I was SO wrong. After 3 years of having nothing but problems with the system, I just finished spending thousands of dollars to have a reputable company come in and totally revamp the system. After speaking numerous times with the foreman, he clearly informed and showed me all the things that were done improperly and the poor quality of materials used. DO NOT hire this company do anything regarding irrigation. You will live to regret it on so many levels. They might do okay on other services they provide but I can honestly give you a first-hand review on how qualified they are to do irrigation systems. I'd like to say you get what you pay for but I didn't even get that. I would give them a negative star rating if I could."

You can use hot water to melt ice from your driveway, but there are some serious caveats. Snowblowers come in three different sizes: first-, second-, and third-stage blowers. Each additional stage is larger with higher intakes, more powerful, and has more gear options.

A first-stage blower, also called a snow thrower, is usually best for snow 6 to 8 inches or below. Electric snow blowers are usually only available in this size. If you regularly get snow that’s well above six inches, consider a second-stage snow blower. If snowstorms dump 2 to 3 feet of snow repeatedly during winter, you need a third-stage snow blower to tackle it.

Removing snow from your roof can help prevent ice dams, but the best thing to do is address insulation issues in your attic. If you do decide to remove the snow manually, you should always use a roof rake rather than a shovel. You shouldn’t climb your snowy roof in any circumstance, and roof rake allows you to remove the snow from the ground or a ladder. For the best results, remove snow as soon as possible after it falls.

Whether or not an annual snow removal contract is worth it depends mainly on location. If you live in an area with frequent heavy snowfall, a yearly contract could be better than paying per clearing. If you live in an area where it only snows a few times a year, paying per snowstorm may be a better option.
