I have been involved in trades since the early 1990's. I returned to college, at the age of 32, to earn a degree in trade sciences and received a B.S. in 2005. I am a Jack of all trades so to speak. if I look at a project and don't feel comfortable that I can do a professional job, I will gladly recommend someone that is qualified for free.

Your home is our passion. From simple refreshes to making your bathroom, kitchen, deck or rooms unique we can help. Peoria Carpenters was founded on the love of doing our very best with the materials and opportunities we are given. Every day we are driven to create and build the vision provided by the homeowners that have graciously invited us into their homes. We thank everyone who has told their friends and families about our work, and are grateful to be part of making their home their own.

"I hired Peoria Carpenters to come and level our basement floor for tile work. Steve and Scott are both very friendly and were great with answering any questions I had about the process. They will be the first to call for any future projects! 100% SATISFIED"

We are a local, family owned asphalt contractor in Peoria that specializes in all aspects of pavement maintenance. Doug Perdue started the business in 1999 with nothing more than a pickup with a small tank and a solid knowledge of seal coating. Business has grown since then, and we’ve managed to become a leader in asphalt and parking lot maintenance in Illinois. We’re completely ready to serve all of your asphalt maintenance needs, and have the knowledge and experience to offer services that will improve the strength and durability of your asphalt service. We are certainly a growing business, but we still maintain the strong values of our humble roots. Maintaining strong relationships is just as important to us as maintaining strong asphalt.

Concrete Repair questions, answered by experts

There are a few ways to reinforce a pier and beam foundation, including installing additional piers and beams for added support and performing underpinning, which redistributes the weight of your home further down into the ground where frost and soil expansion don’t pose a threat to the foundation. The best option for reinforcement varies based on your particular home and the soil conditions beneath it.

If your building department catches you or a contractor doing foundation work without proper permits, they will likely put the work on hold until you secure the necessary permits, which can cause delays of days or even weeks. You can also face violation charges for construction without a permit, which can cost hundreds, depending on where you live.

The foundation repair that will work best varies based on the extent of the damage, the underlying cause, soil conditions, weather conditions, and more. Permanent foundation solutions like underpinning and exterior drainage solutions are better than temporary fixes that don’t address the source of the issue. Some examples of more temporary solutions include mudjacking or slabjacking, waterproof paint, and dampproofing. The best course of action is to have a reliable foundation specialist inspect your issue, treat the underlying problem, and restabilize your foundation.

If you don’t have any access to or knowledge of any area underneath your home, chances are it’s built slab-on-grade. You can also look for the concrete around the bottom edge of your structure; if it’s just a few inches tall, it’s likely a slab. If it’s more than that, has any windows, or you have steps leading to your main entrance, you likely have a different foundation style.

Yes, it is normal for a block foundation to crack. Some block foundation cracks are more serious than others and indicative of a larger structural problem. On the other hand, minor cracks may not be of immediate concern but should be monitored. Regardless, foundational cracks are not an uncommon response to wear on a structure from time and weather.
