"I own a house which is around 90 years old. Its basement had compromised walls, one of which was seriously bowed. In addition, after heavy rain, the basement floor would be wet. I got estimates from three companies to correct these problems. Pivotal was a clear standout. The owner Jeff, his family members Andy and James, along with the rest of the crew make up a terrific team. Jeff and Andy visited my basement twice for long and detailed planning sessions. The actual work took 7 days for completion with James as foreman. All the problems of my basement were fully addressed. My bowed wall is now vertical, with strong supports along all walls every few feet. A complete waterproofing system was installed which feeds to my sump pump. Cleanup after completion of the work was very thorough. Bottom line: Pivotal is a totally trustworthy top quality company!! "

They cracked my driveway and raised it more in the middle so now you can see daylight on either side when the garage door is closed. The caulking on the porch looks really bad"

"The walk from the sidewalk to my house had settled a couple of inches below grade and needed to be brought back up. We contact Jack-a-Slab in January and after a little phone tag because of some reduced hours for winter we were on the schedule for as soon as weather allowed. They called in April with a few days notice to make sure someone would be home, and they brought the sidewalk up to grade quickly and for a very reasonable price compared to a full sidewalk replacement. You can see in the photo how far the sidewalk had sunk based on where the planter area on the left is sunk as well."

Crawl space foundation problems can stem from a few different issues, but the most common are moisture and water problems and soil instability. Moisture and water issues are often a result of poor drainage, which can lead to water intrusion and soil expansion and contraction, leaving your foundation under added stress. A few things can cause soil instability, including poor drainage, karst landscapes and resulting sinkholes, and poorly compacted soil during construction.

The average cost to repair a concrete driveway is between $830 and $2,800, but your costs depend on the extent of the damage. For instance, raising or leveling concrete costs $3 to $25 per square foot, while resurfacing your driveway may cost $3 to $5 per square foot. Meanwhile, small cracks may only cost between $0.10 and $0.15 per linear foot and can be DIYed with synthetic crack filler.

The best way to determine if ceiling cracks are structural is to hire a ceiling contractor to inspect the cracks and provide a professional opinion. That said, you might be able to make an educated guess based on the size and appearance of the crack. Larger cracks, cracks accompanied by sagging or discoloration, and cracks that travel from the ceiling down the walls are all signs of structural issues.

You can use epoxy-based concrete fillers to repair small cracks and dents in the floor. For larger damages, remove any debris, then patch the cracks or holes with concrete repair products or resurface the entire floor. We recommend using fast-curing products that cure in four hours. You can also buy a pre-mixed concrete patch and leveler if you are only repairing parts of your floor.

Regularly inspecting your foundation—at least the visible sections—for signs of foundation issues like moisture and pest infestation is a good way to identify slab leaks early, as is keeping an eye and ear out for water damage to indoor building materials, above-average water bills, sounds of running water when no fixtures or appliances are on, and indoor humidity that causes the temperatures to feel more extreme. If you do find any issues, contact a plumber right away to check it out for you.
