"Excellent professional work and managed to use existing structures to cut costs. Carpentry work was master level and cleaned up very well and communication was first rate. In general lumber costs are high but the finished deck they did for my back deck is well worth the investment and will be enjoyed for years to come!"

"We had an excellent experience working with Robert Anthony from start to finish. They were professional, responsive, and incredibly detail-oriented throughout our kitchen remodel. His team completed our renovation on time, kept the workspace clean, and communicated with us every step of the way. The quality of the craftsmanship exceeded our expectations, and you can truly tell they take pride in their work. They transformed our kitcjen beautifully and made the entire process smooth and stress-free for my family. We are beyond happy with our kitchen and we couldn’t recommended him more."

"I have a deck that I neglected to maintain properly. I knew it needed repair, and I was putting it off and putting it off for more time than I'd like to admit to people who know me. I hooked up with Deck Fence and House through HomeAdvisor, as they were local and well-reviewed. They were able to come to my house the next day to review the job: repair of rotting steps and supports, power washing, and staining. We agreed on a fair price and they started work the next day. The job was probably more than Deck Fence and House initially envisioned, as the rot was severe in places, and involved a significant amount of cutting and fitting of new supports, baseboards, and steps. As a previous reviewer wrote, they did good work, took the time to get it right, and kept the original price. The crew was able to remove the damage and power wash and stain in about two days, in 90+ degree heat. Although I didn't expect it (and, quite frankly, forgot to ask for), they hauled the old rotted wood away, saving me the trouble of disposing it myself. I highly recommend Deck Fence and House. The crew was friendly and personable, they took precautions to protect my house and vegetation from any stray stain applied, they showed up on time, did the work as requested, charged a fair price, and cleaned the site. Isn't this how it should be all the time? ;)"

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Yes, but ensuring the deck has a solid foundation with adequate footings is critical before building, as the weight of a sunroom will put significant pressure on the structure below. Even if your deck is properly constructed, it may not be able to handle the extra weight. While some basic, lightweight, prefabricated sunrooms can sit on a deck with a strong existing foundation without additional supports, in many cases, the foundation and joists will need reinforcement. It is always best to have a structural engineer perform an inspection to evaluate the deck's quality and structural integrity. A professional can help you decide if reinforcement is sufficient or if it's better to tear down the deck and start over.

Composite decking boards aren't your only options for building a deck. There are several other types of materials for decks, including wood and aluminum decking. Wood decking comes in many different wood species, offering natural beauty and classy timelessness to your yard. Aluminum is a lightweight, water-resistant, and low-maintenance material that is also non-slip.

Yes, deck footings typically require an inspection before laying down concrete. While not all local building codes require footing inspection, proper placement ensures a safe and structurally sound deck. An inspector will verify that the deck can adequately hold what you put on top of it., and that the footings have been dug to the correct dimensions.

Composite decking requires a solid foundation or substructure for support. This base is typically a frame composed of posts, beams, joists, and footings. The frame can be built from various materials, such as composite, plastic, timber, or metal, depending on your budget, deck type, and environmental conditions. For maximum stability, a professional deck builder may recommend installing this frame on top of a solid concrete base. It is best to discuss the most suitable substructure design and materials for your specific project with a professional.

Rot loves moisture, so deck rot typically impacts the parts of a board that stay wet. This includes the underside of boards, in addition to support posts and joists. However, any part of a board can rot, given the right conditions.
