"When making an appointment with Brian he was kind & took the time to discuss options. I was easily able to make an appointment in the near future. The gentlemen that came to clean the carpets was very professional and friendly, and so kind about my excited puppy. He did a great job on carpets that were over due for a cleaning. Brian followed up afterwards to make sure everything went well. I will be using them again!"

"Mike did a great job on our carpets! He was very personable and knowledgeable. Our carpets look amazing. He was able to remove a few stains that we had and the carpet dried incredibly fast! His prices are very reasonable and beat most of the competition. We would definitely recommend Red Carpet Cleaning Quad Cities!!"

"Came on very short notice to save the day from sewage backup in our basement. Carpet has no padding but still had been stewing for nearly a week. But their anti-microbial and deodorizing really did the trick! Final bill matched their phone estimate so no punches pulled. Very efficient & professional. Had to move furniture around and very careful. Good guys!"

"Extremely well! The apt was left in filthy conditions. Heavy grease on stove,, walls, refrig, cupboards, and counters. Bathroom was ghastly. Heavy smoke stained walls throughout. The contractor left the project in exemplary condition! We are more than pleased as well as impressed/astonished by the time frame in which the work was completed. We give them top marks and fully intend to to use their services as our go-to cleanig contractor!"

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

When it comes to flooring installers, licensing laws vary from state to state. Even if your state doesn’t require your flooring installer to have a license, your municipality or city might, so it’s a good idea to check with your town before getting started. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local general contractor guidelines.

Hiring an unlicensed flooring installer could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.

On average, installing carpet costs between $3 and $11 per square foot, depending on factors like the carpet material, style, and labor rates in your area. Sometimes, installers will include carpet removal in these costs, so if you don’t have any carpet to remove, you can save time and spend less money on labor.

Installing carpet over carpet may negatively impact the resale value of your home. While it offers a quick fix, potential buyers may view it as a temporary solution rather than a long-term investment in quality flooring. Properly installed and maintained flooring adds value to a home, so removing the existing carpet and installing new flooring may be a better option to attract prospective buyers and maximize resale value.

If you want your carpet to last as long as possible, then yes, you need to install carpet padding. Carpet padding creates a layer of protection between the back of your carpet and the floor beneath it, which decreases friction and reduces wear and tear. Aside from that, carpet padding also helps absorb noise and makes your carpet feel more comfortable underfoot.

Decent carpet will last around 10 years on stairs. Some less durable carpets, like polyester, will only last five years on stairs. The ideal carpet, like wool or nylon, can last about 15 to 25 years. You’ll know when to replace it when it starts wearing down. You may have to replace it sooner if it's stained, whether due to water damage or pets.
