I place an order to install the carpet for the living room and staircase. The waiting time was only two weeks. The installer came on time. He worked hard and did a high-quality job. I'll highly recommend this company for anyone who wants to get an excellent result on the carpet installation project for the affordable price.

This was not a reassuring experience.  The sales associate was exceedingly accommodating and cheerful but ended up:
mispricing the materials by nearly 100%
mispricing the labor by over 100%
misrecording the carpet pattern on the order
misrecording the carpet color on the order and
forgetting to contact the installer.
It took two store visits and six phone calls to get things straight.  In the end, the store split the difference in material costs between their quote and their billed amount (the "quote" was not flagged as preliminary but I was hostage to the need to get the job finished in a short time) and redesigned their "quote" form to tell future customers that the hand-written quotes are not binding on the store.
The quality of the carpet was reasonable. The installer did a perfectly fine job - just not for anywhere near what the store said it would cost.

Laminate Flooring purchased from GCO and installed in lower level family room by one of thier recommended installers.  It is buckling at joined seams.  Looks very bad in some places and is getting slowly worse.  Floor was supposed to be warranteed for 10 years. Reported problems to GCO in May 2012.  The person I spoke with at that time said he would file a claim and someone would contact me about coming out to assess the problem.  Heard nothing more for a couple months and in July I called back.  At this time I spoke with the president of GCO (per his card) who said there was no record of my previous call but that he would send someone out within the week.  He called back a couple weeks later to say he had called someone who would inspect the floor but had not recieved a call back yet, but would keep trying.  He continued to call me back several more times telling me he was still working on it.  Finally, at the end of August he and another man came out and took photos of the damage.  I was told a couple weeks ago that the photos were sent to the manufacturer of the floor and they said it was due to water damage and they will not honor the warrantee.  I explained that we have never had water in the lower level of our house and because these spots are all over the floor, the entire room would have had to be flooded.  He than implied that perhaps my two very small dogs had caused the damage. Both of these explainations are rediculous and when I said so, he implied I might not be telling the truth.  Needless to say, my dogs are housebroken, and our lower level is dry and the sump pump works beautifully.  Water did not cause this buckling.  He told me he would try to get an "independent" inspector to come out and assess the damage and report to the company, since the company would not send an inspector.  Today, he called me back once again to tell me an inspector would cost 300.00 and he would pay half but that I had to pay the other half.  I told him I was not interested, that we would have to replace the floor and we certainly would not be using GCO or "Shaw" ("Shaw" is the company they tell me is the manufacturer, although my paperwork says "Casabella".)  It is obvious to me that the manufacturer does not honor their warrantee and that GCO does not stand behind the warrantees of the products they sell.

Response from Flooring America
"I'm very sorry that your experience has not been what you would have hoped. We strive to satisfy every customer and it's very disappointing when we miss that mark. Floor problems like yours can be very difficult to determine the cause. Shaw makes a very good floor and they are serious about having satisfied customers just as we are at GCO/The Floor Trader. Floors don't usually buckle like that unless moisture has been introduced to it. I understand you don't accept that response and therefore wanted to take both the retailer and the manufacturer out of the process for a moment and bring in an independent flooring inspector who has been trained in determining what causes such problems and presenting the facts to the manufacturer. If it's proves to be a manufacturing problem, Shaw will not hesitate to replace your floor. They want happy customers and so do we. They are not trying to get out of a claim but because they make the floor, they know what things can cause damage to them and are very sure it's moisture. When I suggested it may be pets, again, please understand that I was only speculating things that could cause moisture. I don't live there so I would not be able to say for sure that's what it was. An independent inspector would more than likely be able to determine what the source of moisture was. I do apologize if you feel I was questioning your honesty. I certainly wasn't trying to imply that. Again, without knowing the source of the problem, I would be in no position to question you. My offer to pay for half the inspection was something I wanted to do to help you. If determined that this is a source from within the home, we would not be able recover our half. I also indicated to you that if it is determined to be a manufacturer related problem, we would reimburse you for your half so there would be no out of pocket expense on your part. Please let me know if you would like to accept this offer as I will reopen it one more time for you. Thank you! Shawn Langan"

Everything went well until I went to pay for my items and the installation cost.  I was told it would be around $1.00 to install my laminate floor, $2.00 of the installers had to rip out my old floor.  The installers did not have to do anything with my old floor.  When I went to pay for my install I was told it would be $2.00 per square foot for install.  When I questioned that I was told "that is just industry standard" When I told the person who was helping at the time what our salesperson told us, our sales person then told us that was the price for for vinyl flooring we were looking at.  I told him I never looked at vinyl flooring and he tried to argue with me about that.  The install was a disaster.    I still have pieces of the kickboards falling of or bubbling up.  They never came back to fix a piece of the carpet so it would blend better.  They acted like putting the kickplate on dishwasher was a huge chore and that alone took them 3 days.  When I called GCO to complain about it instead of the manager like I requested I had gotten the same salesperson who proceeded to tell me sorry about my experience but there was nothing they could do.  In my old house I replaced 3 different floors through them.  Never again.

The installers removed the old carpet and pad and hauled it away.  The carpet was installed over 1.5 days and during that time, Shawn Langan personally stopped in to see the work and make sure I was happy with my choices.  The installers were very professional and the carpet and tile look great.  There were absolutely no problems and I was very satisfied.  Mr. Langan and Dustin both checked in again after the job was done.  Great customer service!!
