"Jarvis Electric did all of the electric for our new build and has come back to add additional items that we have added since we have been in the home. Super responsive and quick to complete all requested work. Top notch service. Extremely reasonable price. I appreciate that they always keep a clean worksite and never leave a mess, even if coming back the next day to finish a job. I have not only used them for my home but referred them to my mom and dad as well when they needed work done. Great company with great people and really easy to deal with. They truly went above and beyond."

"Ron, our installer, was absolutely wonderful! He arrived on time, was pleasant, and efficient. Ron worked on New Year's Eve, was close to finishing his job, but could have stretched it into the next day. Rather than leaving us "in the dark," he worked until the job was completed that day. We appreciate all the hard work from Ron! We definitely recommend Reinhold for any of your electric needs!"

"CD Electric was fantastic. They added electrical outlets to the interior and exterior of my home and installed an exterior light. Chase was very thorough with the estimate he provided me and completed the job in the time he said it would take. I would definitely hire them again for any future jobs and I highly recommend them to anyone else."

"I was pleased with the installation of the lightning rods--communication was great and the work was done quickly. What I wasn't happy with is he quoted me a price that was less then my actual bill was BUT the price was still less then two other contractors bids."

"We wanted our backyard to be more inviting in the evening and early nightfall.  Out Door Lighting suggested landscape lights installed at the base of 6 medium sized trees that shine straight up.  Low voltage with a timer that never has to be set, and works year round.  Their solution was perfect.  We've had several complimants from friends and neighbors."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Collinsville, IL, unexpected costs during electrical projects often arise from code upgrades, required inspections, or discovering outdated aluminum wiring in older homes. You may also encounter extra expenses for upgrading grounding systems or replacing non-compliant outlets. If your project involves utility service changes or temporary power interruptions, these can add complexity. Uncovering issues like asbestos during wall access can further increase overall project scope.

Helpful?

Electrical work in Collinsville, IL, can impact interconnected systems like HVAC, sump pumps, and smart home devices. For example, panel upgrades might require changes to furnace wiring or backup generators, especially in homes with basements prone to flooding. Ask your contractor to explain how the planned work could affect insulation, security systems, or other utilities unique to your property for a smoother project.

Helpful?

Before starting electrical work in Collinsville, IL, confirm permit requirements with the local building department and prepare your project plans. Call 811 before digging for any underground electrical work. Coordinate with your utility provider if service adjustments are needed. Clear access to electrical panels, document any existing issues, and notify neighbors about potential outages. Planning around local weather and verifying your contractor’s credentials helps prevent delays.

Helpful?

When reviewing quotes from electrical professionals in Collinsville, IL, be cautious of unusually low bids, as these may indicate hidden fees or incomplete work. Insist on written estimates with clear details, and avoid contractors who pressure you to commit quickly or demand full payment upfront. Reliable professionals should provide references, proof of insurance, and specify if local permits are needed for your electrical project.

Helpful?

For electrical maintenance in Collinsville, IL, keep a non-contact voltage tester, insulated screwdrivers, a GFCI outlet tester, and a digital multimeter. Stock up on wire nuts, electrical tape, and weatherproof covers for outdoor outlets. Surge protectors are important due to Midwest storms. Having battery-powered lanterns and an updated emergency contact list is wise, especially since severe weather can cause power outages in the area.
