However, I am a recent college graduate and currently am struggling financially. I decided to continue driving my car and ignore the noise. A few weeks later, while driving my car, my brakes went out and I quickly realized my decision to ignore the noise was not the best choice. I stopped at Oakland Auto Repair mainly because it was right down the street. I had stopped there once before due to an absense of brake lights and they were able to cheaply and quickly replace my brake switch. With that in mind, I found myself, once again, in their garage. They asked me if it would be alright to take my rear tire off so they would be able to provide me with a proper analysis of the problem, as well as an accurate estimate. Once the tire was removed, they explained to me that it was a very wise choice to stop because my car was rapidly leaking brake fluid, which is apparently highly flammable. They proceeded to show me exactly what was wrong with my car and explained exactly what needed replaced. I am pretty much oblivious to everything that has anything to do with cars, so I found this walkthrough to be extremely informational and helpful. They were able to have the car fixed within 24 hours and they only replaced the parts that they had already discussed with me. As I have previously stated, I am not in the best financial situation. That being said, they allowed me to pay in installments which was a huge help and alleviated much of my concern about how to afford such a major repair. From now on, the only auto shop I will be going to is Oakland Auto Repair."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/il/carbondale/oakland-auto-repair-reviews-7436705.htm"},"position":6},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"ALLIANCE SERVICE & INSTLTN","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"IL","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Wayne C."},"reviewBody":" We had a broken water pipe in the bathroom. It came from the wall to the bath tub faucet. We called Alliance and the owner came out and began repairs. The entire time he was here he complained that he really didn't have time to spare as people were calling him all the time. He continually called for my assistance to hold a light or sand paper fa piece of pipe. He tried to solder a piece of pipe onto the broken pipe and caught the chalking in the shower on fire which turned everything black. He said "I should have had something covering that I guess". When he finally got done we had a blackened shower wall, a faucet that stuck out of the wall a good 3 inches and a filthy bath tub with solder s*** and dirt all over the tub and bathroom floor. Too fill the 3 inch gap between the wall and the faucet he went out to his truck and got a piece of filthy PVC pipe to put behind the faucet and against the wall. When I expressed my horror at the poor quality workmanship his reply was "It's not my fault the pipe broke" and "I knew it wouldn't look very good before I fixed it?. He, Graydon Smith the owner, then said that he would try to get back in "a couple of weeks and try to do something else. For this we paid $50.00, never again. The owner \"Shawn\" told me right away to not try to run the engine anymore and took directions to where I was and came out and towed me back to his shop. After we got to his shop, he asked me everything that happened and then took a quick look at the truck and said he was pretty sure the engine had a bearing go out and was bad, but with no oil light on he wanted to look into it a little further before making the final diagnosis. He even gave me a ride home (15-20 mins each way), and said he would call me when he got some more information and an estimate. He ended up calling me about 4:30pm later that day and confirmed that the engine was bad, which he had allready figured, but he found out why and found a few factory service bulletins for updates to help prevent this from happening in the future. Then he told me he uses a company for remanufactured engines and transmissions that also reviews the factory service bulletins and rebuilds all of their engines and transmissions using these updates, and he also informed me that they had an engine in stock and there was still time to order it for the next days delivery. He informed me that the company offers a 3 year 100,000 mile nationwide warranty the even includes towing and car rental. He told me the cost for the engine and the labor to install it and all the necessary parts that went along with an engine replacement would be $5,500, and he said that if I wanted him to go ahead and order the engine he would but he would need me to pay a deposit (the cost of the motor) before he could start the job just becuase of the high cost of the engine which is totally understandable, I told him to order the engine. I had been calling around to get a general idea of a price for an engine replacement while I was waiting for him to call me and I called three places including 1 dealership and he was cheaper than the dealership by almost $2,000 and he was about $600 cheaper than one of the shops, but the last shop I called was about $3,000 cheaper but that was for a junkyard motor with a 30 day warranty on the engine only from the junkyard and no coverage on labor or towing or anything else. He called me back and said the engine would be delivered the next day before noon and I told him I would come to his shop with the deposit before noon that same day also. I made it to his shop about 11:00am the next day and the engine was allready there. He thanked me for the deposit and told me that he would get started on it first thing Friday morning. Well I got a phone call in the middle of the night with a family emergency that I would need to be out of town for on Saturday, but I had no vehicle to get there with. I called the shop about 9:00am and told them what had happened and he said that he wouldn't be done by closing time, he apologized and offered to help me line-up a rental car if I needed one. I told him it was ok and I would make other arrangements. I spent the rest of the morning and afternoon calling around to see what my options were and about 4:00pm I got a call from the shop and he said things were going better than planned and he asked if I had made any arrangements yet and I told him I hadn't yet, he then told me to hold off because he was going to stay after until the truck was finished, he said it might be late but he would call when it is done and I told him I was very grateful for this and would leave him alone to finish the truck. He called me later on that night about 10:15pm and to let me know the truck was done and he had finished the test drive and everything was good and even offered to come to my house and pick me up in it and bring me back to the shop. I told him sure and he did. We got back to the shop and went over everything on the bill and all the warranty information and paperwork and I paid him the rest of the bill and drove the truck home. I left the next day early and put almost 1000 miles on the truck that weekend and didn't have a single problem at all with anything!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't thank him enough for going the extra mile to help me out in a pinch!!!!!!!!!!!!!"},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/il/mazon/mazon-auto-works-reviews-4957466.htm"},"position":8},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"AUTOMATIC COMFORT SYSTEMS","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"IL","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"JENNIFER K."},"reviewBody":"In my first season with the boiler in my new home, I found that the pilot light was going out about every two weeks. John and Matt worked with me to resolve the problem. They first tried the more common (and cheaper) solutions, making adjustments and replacing the thermocouple. Matt taught me how to relight the pilot when it goes out and told me that if the cheaper options did not work, a new gas valve might be needed. I was skeptical since it appeared that the boiler had a fairly new gas valve, but he explained that it might need a different kind of gas valve. He explained that some boilers need a \"step opening\" valve that lets a smaller amount of gas through at first and then opens fully. A valve that opens fully right away might occasionally blow out the pilot light. This certainly sounded like the situation I was encountering. We continued to monitor the situation. They also noted that pilot burner was not the right one for this type of boiler, which could also contribute to the problem. When the pilot light went out again, I agreed to have both the gas valve and the pilot burner replaced as we had been discussing. The pilot light has not gone out since and the boiler has continued to work properly (almost two months later). Although it took several service calls, I found that these two did meticulous work and explained their reasoning carefully in terms I could understand. They took care to recommend expensive repairs only when necessary."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/il/carbondale/automatic-comfort-systems-reviews-2006758.htm"},"position":9},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"R ELECTRICIAN","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"IL","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"JANEL E."},"reviewBody":"Very timely, and professional, looks great. One of the mantles on our outdoor gas light crumbled and needed to be replaced. I was unable to shut off the gas to the light - the valve had "frozen" and could not be turned. I called in the AM and they came out after lunch and repaired the valve so I could easily turn it on and off - and...

FAQs for exterior lighting service projects in Carbondale, IL
Low-voltage landscape lighting costs about $120 per fixture to install. You may need to install a 12-volt transformer, too, to ensure the lighting system runs safely. For a six-fixture low-voltage landscape lighting setup, expect to pay around $1,000. A major reason people choose low-voltage landscape lighting is to reduce the risk of shock, making it safer to operate the outdoor lighting system.
Professional landscape lighting is typically worth the investment to improve your home’s curb appeal, safety, and security. Additionally, landscape lighting can add value to your home, creating a brightly-lit outdoor space that you can use after dark. According to the National Association of Realtors, landscaping lighting can add $2,500 to your home’s value. On average, this type of home improvement has a 50% return on investment.
There are tons of different types of landscape lighting available, including the choice between solar and wired, incandescent and LED, and a variety of colors.
Specific types of lighting include:
Pathway lights: $50–$150 per fixture
String lights: $50–$150
Low-voltage lights: $90–$150 per fixture
Porch lights: $65–$250 per fixture
Floodlights: $75–$250 per fixture
Downlights: $100–$400 per fixture
Uplights: $100–$400 per fixture
Security lights: $ 350–$500 per fixture
Lamp posts: $400–$1,100 per lamp post
Landscape lighting costs about $4,000 on average, ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on the amount of lighting, type of lights, and your location. Additional cost factors include any electrical work, excavation and trenching, and the current landscaping that the contractor has to work around. You can expect to pay an average of $100 for pathway and string lighting, and about $700 for lamp post lighting.
The five common types of landscape lighting are up-lighting, down-lighting, spotlights, built-in lighting, and pathway lighting.
Up-lighting casts light upwards from the ground, mostly for aesthetic purposes.
Down-lighting directs light onto the ground, lighting pathways, or outdoor space.
Spotlights cast direct, focused lighting in any direction.
Built-in lighting integrates lighting into an outdoor feature.
