"I called for a proposal and estimation of installing permanent outdoor holiday lights for my house, easy to make appointment and a representative shows up on time with samples and plans, very professional, but the price is beyond my budget.

"Ken did a fabulous job. He had painted a different home for me over 5 years ago, but I remembered that he did a great job at a great price, so I called him back when I purchased another home. I needed the house to be painted a week that I had to go out of town. Ken was extremely professional, reliable and trustworthy. I gave him the instructions, a key to my house and went out of town for the week. When I returned over the weekend, the work was complete and was high quality. He called me after the work was completed and asked if there was any touch up work needed. There were only a few spots that needed touching up and he quickly returned to do those. If you need a high quality paint job at an affordable price, I would highly recommend Ken."

"We have used It's a Wonderful Light to decorate the outside of our house for a few years now. There service has been professional and a positive experience each year. We have our house outlined, shrubs and 2 tall trees lighted as well as a very large wreath hung. They are careful in installing and dismantling the lights. When the weather (ie. snow is gone) they come back and clean up the lost plastic holders from the ground so the lawn, and flower/shrub beds are as cleaned up as before the installation. They store and maintain our lights. We have only has to call them twice over the years to come out a fix some burnt out bulbs, The lights were fixed with the timeframe given to us. I would recommend It's A Wonderful Light to anyone, you will not be disappointed"

Holiday Decorating questions, answered by experts

There is no formal date for Christmas light removal, but January 2 is a standard day to take them down for many homeowners. However, some homeowners’ associations have strict rules around this topic, mandating that residents remove lights no later than two weeks after Christmas. Check with your local association or community for more information.

Outdoor Christmas lights cost between $80 to $300 on average without installation. This comes out to about $4 to $50 per strand. You can get a box of outdoor Christmas lights for as little as $20, if you just want to decorate a small area, like a doorway. If you want to go all out and cover your entire home, you'll need between 10 to 20 strands of 100 to 200 bulbs each.

You can attach Christmas lights to your palm tree by securely wrapping the strings around the tree. If you notice the strands slipping, you can also use a staple gun to secure them to the trunk.

Hiring a professional for holiday decorating, especially for hanging lights, is often well worth the investment for several reasons. A key benefit is safety; if you are physically unable to hang lights due to injury, or if your home has multiple stories or other high places that pose a safety hazard, a professional can handle the job securely. They also have the expertise to assess your electrical system to ensure it can handle the load. Hiring a pro is also a great option for homeowners who lack the time or capability to decorate. Professionals can create a stylish, chic, and upscale look that will wow your guests, and they may even save you money on decor. Finally, many holiday lighting experts include maintenance and repairs as part of their rates, ensuring your display looks great throughout the season without any extra effort on your part.

The cost for professional holiday light installation averages around $430, with a typical range of $220 to $675. However, prices can be as low as $100 for simple projector setups or exceed $1,200 for extensive displays. The total cost depends on factors like the display's complexity, your home's size, labor rates in your area, and the type of lights used. For example, installation on a small, one-story home may cost $250 to $600, while a multi-story home over 4,000 square feet could cost $500 to $1,800. Costs can also be broken down by location (e.g., high roofs at $3.50–$6 per linear foot) or by the type of light strand, with prices ranging from $4 for basic incandescent strands to over $60 for color-changing LED strands.
