"Tim, the owner, came over to review what we needed. He ordered a new inverter, was very communicative and installed the new inverter once it was received. We could not be happier with the service Tim and Sunivation Solar provided for us, and we will not hesitate to call them back should we need anything again. Tim was extremely kind, very thorough and just did an excellent overall job. Thank you!!"

"The technicians that I had come to my rental homes were fantastic. Each visit I learned something new from the technicians. They're very polite and sociable. They not only checked the AC out, but they took the panels off and sprayed the coils with a hose to remove the buildup of debris. The technician also found a Capacitor that was not within working margins and replaced it as a part of my warranty."

"We met Don at a home expo show.  We setup the appointment for that same week and he showed up on time.  He was able to schedule an evening consultation so I would not have to miss work.  His company worked with both GE and Generac, however GE had a better warranty, it is a smaller, more efficient unit and it allowed us to move 10 breakers over to the new switch panel compared to the Generac 8 KW model which only allowed for 8 breakers.  His quote was very concise and he explained that there would be additional costs bared by us that would be outside the quote.  These additional costs were village permit costs and the possibility of needing an updated gas meter installed, which we did.  At least it was nice knowing these extra costs were involved before signing a contract and being blind sided.  The unit with installation came in around $3,900 and we added an oil heater for $300 since we live near Chicago and the winters can be harsh.
After signing our contract, we had to wait a few weeks while our gas company looked over our appliances to determine if we needed a new gas meter, which we did (cost about $100).  Don gave us the form to send to the gas company where I had to go around the house and list all gas appliances and their BTUs.  As soon as the new gas meter was installed and the permit was pulled they were able to schedule us within a week.  Our installation took 2 days.  The first day the electrician came out and did just about all of the electric work.  He returned the next morning to finish up for an hour or two.  Then the gas man came out in the afternoon to finish the connection.  He even gave us a new T connection with shutoff valve for our propane grill which I have converted into natural gas.  After the hookup was complete, he tested the unit and showed me all the essential things I need to know about the unit and the switch panel.
The entire crew was very professional and did everything right.  They made sure not to track any dirt or mud into the house, they cleaned up after themselves and they worked hard to get the job done right and quickly.  I would definitely recommend them to anyone interested in purchasing a generator for their house."

"I found Millennium Solar Electric through an Angie's List offer to have an electrical panel replaced with an upgraded panel with a whole home surge protector where you have to pay for the service in full before scheduling the services. Paying a service provider in full before they do any work is quite the leap of faith and goes against rules of dealing with service providers but it is the only way to take advantage of the offers. In an attempt to protect myself I contacted Millennium prior to making payment. The company did not respond to contact attempts through Angie's List email and chat service. I attempted to contact them several times that way throughout October 2017. I finally got in touch with them on November 1st. They apologized for not responding to my attempts to contact them through Angie's List. November 17th was earliest he could schedule my appointment. The work seemed to go off without much of a hitch. When they finished installing the panel, the workers left without much explanation of what what done. I noticed after they left that one of the breakers was not turned on. It was the breaker connected to the whole home surge protector. I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be on or off so I called the company and had to leave a message. A few days later I finally received a response telling me that the breaker should have indeed been turned on. OK, I thought, not a big deal. A week later I noticed that my outdoor security light was no longer working. It was working prior to the installation of the panel. So again I had to call the company. I called on December 1st, left a message. He called me back, stated that he knew what probably went wrong with the wiring when he reconnected the panel but said that he would me back to schedule a time to come correct the problem. I didn't hear back that day so I called on December 4th, 5th, and 6th. On the 6th I again explained the issue as he didn't seem to remember and we made an appointment for December 11th to correct the problem. So I took off work and waited for him to come correct the issue. Guess what....I didn't hear from him on December 11th. I called and find out what happened and the calls went directly to voice mail. I waited an hour and called again and left a message. That is where our story ends for now. I must not contemplate having another company correct the issue which would mean I would have to sue this company for whatever the amount I am charged to have the light fixed. Between December 11th and December 14th, the owner, Christopher Williams and I had a couple of exchanges via text. I think in the end, Mr. Williams understood my frustration and on December 16th he came out as promised (actually he was early) and corrected the issue with the outdoor security light. Now that my issues are resolved I have a much more favorable view of the company."

Solar Panels questions, answered by experts

Learn about common solar blockers in your area to determine how often you should wash solar panels and the best cleaning method:

  • Soot: If you have a fireplace, soot can disperse and accumulate on the solar panels.

  • Debris, dirt, and leaves: These natural elements require light cleaning. Being close to trees or living in a desert area can cause more of these to accumulate.

  • Pollen: Areas with a high pollen count require more frequent solar panel cleaning, and sticky plant material requires a deeper cleaning.

  • Bird droppings: Bird droppings are binding and more difficult to remove. Keep this in mind if you live near a lot of surrounding trees.

Installing solar panels is worth it if you’re frustrated with paying high utility bills, live in a sunny location, and qualify for tax credits and incentives. Most homeowners cut between $650 and $1,500 from their utility bills each year by installing solar panels. Over the course of your panel’s warranty, you could save anywhere from $16,300 to $37,500, though those in sunny areas with high energy costs could save more than $100,000.

Not all homes are suited for solar panel systems. Older roofs or those in poor condition may need repairs or replacement before solar panels can be installed. Some other factors to consider are the amount of sunlight your roof receives, the roof’s orientation and pitch, and any shading from nearby trees or buildings.

The average homeowner needs around 22 solar panels, but the exact number depends on your monthly energy consumption. Your solar professional should size your array to offset your consumption, meaning you’ll need fewer panels if you use below-average amounts of electricity, or more than 22 if you use above-average amounts of electricity. The number of panels also depends on the output of each panel. The average is around 400 watts, but you might need more panels if you install less capable equipment. Since there are so many variables, you should have a professional size your system.

There are a few great questions to ask a solar contractor or inspector when you speak to them. You’ll probably want to find out about the energy yield and efficiency of your array, ensuring the actual output matches the amount you calculated when installing the array in the first place. It’s also a good idea to find out about any damage or wear and tear on the array and to inquire about how soon you need to make repairs or replacements to essential components.
