Ken is very easy going and flexible, but he needs to talk more to the owner when there are situations that may need correcting or explaining before going forward or leaving.  Why I say this is I had a small bathroom floor so I bought a small roll of linoleum which he stated was really thin instead of saying something it tore when he tried to put it down.  Ken forgot instructions to the Lyons shower door which I had sent to him earlier, and I noticed parts of door were not on correctly.  I told him just ask I could have produced the instructions.  Ken did a great job with the fan, shutoff valve, fence post, vanity, & drywall.  I have found that my interlocking shower which is not supposed to have caulking inside- does in one corner, and is not aligned on the outside.

You will need to cut or break a boomstick so it is wider than the door and long enough to anchor outside the door frame. Extend the broomstick horizontally under the doorknob, ensuring it's snug. Now using long screws and a drill, anchor the broomstick to the wall outside the door frame. Remember that you won't be able to open the door afterward. Do not proceed with this hack if your home has no alternative exit.

A screen door needs at least two hinges, though most have three or four hinges. The amount of hinges depends on the weight and size of the door. The heavier your door, the more hinges it will need for support. Exterior doors, which are sturdier than interior doors, have the most hinges.

Most slab doors do not have hinge cutouts, making them a complete blank slate. You will have to measure and cut the mortises yourself. You can order a slab door from a home improvement store and ask them to make the cuts, although you still have to take the measurements independently.

Look at the door from the outside, or the key side. If the hinges are on the left side of the door, it’s a left-hand swing. If the hinges are on the right side of the door, it’s a right-hand swing. You can also think of it as which hand you would most likely use to open the door from the outside when considering whether it’s a right-hand vs. left-hand door.

Ideally, a gate should be able to swing both in and out. However, if it can only open in one direction, it is generally best for it to swing inward. This is often the safest option, especially for deck gates near steps, as you'll want the gate to swing away from the stairs. An inward swing also prevents the gate from opening into a public space, like a sidewalk, and can be more convenient when carrying heavy items like a wheelbarrow into a garden.

There are exceptions, however. The layout of your property may require a different approach. For example, if your property is on a slope, the gate may not be able to swing inward. You should also ensure the gate can open fully without colliding with any objects or blocking access to other areas. For a backyard garden gate where public access isn't a concern, the direction it swings is largely a matter of personal preference. Finally, always check your local building codes, as they may have specific requirements for which way a gate must swing.
