"I liked that their customer service kept me updated as to when they were coming and asked if any concerns. I had electrical and plumbing work done and both jobs were done to my satisfaction. The workers were all very friendly, observed safety precautions in regards to Covid-19. Normally I would have had to wait for a long time for repairs, but the plumbing was done the next morning after I called them, and the electrical was done a few days later. I like the all in one company service."

"We had a fantastic experience with Plews Home Heating and Air Conditioning in Twin Falls, Idaho. From start to finish, the entire team was professional, honest, and extremely easy to work with. They showed up on time, communicated clearly, and took the time to explain everything without any pressure or upselling. The quality of the work was excellent, and you can tell they truly care about doing the job right. The technicians were knowledgeable, friendly, and respectful of our home, and they left everything clean when they were finished. Our system is running great, and the whole process was smooth and stress-free. It’s refreshing to find a company that values customer service and integrity the way Plews does. *** I have recently added the Nashville area to my service coverage. Since I can do most of my services remotely with you over the phone, I am hoping to eventually open up to larger markets and help people from having to take their computer in to get it fixed, if it has internet access, I can usually fix it over the Internet. Just trying to do more to help my Angies List customers!!******** I am a sole proprietor that works out of my home. I am my only employee, but I have over 20 years experience fixing computers, and providing superior customer service. I work on a flat rate service, and don't charge by the hour because I feel it's important to educate the customer on what the issue is/was, and how to avoid it in the future. I feel that local service companies (my competition) have been overcharging customers for years. I offer a first time customer discount of 10% but I will offer 15% off for first time customers referred by Angies List. I've lived in the Huntsville area most all my life, so I know the area very well. I will never use a subcontractor as I am very picky about making sure that if my name and company is associated with something, it will be the best experience my customer has ever had, and using sub contractors won't ensure that, so I prefer to do all the work myself. Lastly, I should point out that I am a former offensive lineman for the University of Southern Mississippi and was Brett Favre's center his freshman year at Southern. I went on to play for Tom Landry in his last year, but gave up pro football early on to pursue my passion of fixing computers. If I didn't have bills to pay, I would do this for free because I love it! If you have a computer problem, I promise you that you couldn't find a better technician that will care about you as a customer, and not about the bottom line. I am always available, but don't always answer my phone, but if you leave a message, I promise to back with you as soon as possible...and figure out how to get your issue resolved in a quick, efficient and economical manner. Thanks so much for reading my ad, and I look forward to working for you!

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

To extend your HVAC system’s lifespan, it’s crucial to keep up with maintenance. This includes changing filters and thermostat batteries, keeping the outside unit clean and clear of clutter, and lubricating moving parts. Watch out for leaks, mold buildup, and blockages to ensure your unit stays in good working order. Spotting these issues early can be the difference between a simple, wallet-friendly repair and an expensive replacement.

The average life span of an HVAC system is 15 to 20 years. Even if your old air conditioner is still functional, it isn't as energy-efficient as a newer system (especially one with an Energy Star designation). Older HVAC systems aren't as efficient, and the 10-year mark is when you should start making full system replacement plans. Twenty years in, that plan should be well underway rather than waiting for the unit to die.

Yes, mini-split systems are generally less expensive to run than central air conditioners and are significantly more energy-efficient. Because mini-splits do not rely on ductwork, they avoid the energy loss associated with ducted systems, allowing cooled or heated air to reach its destination more efficiently. Additionally, they offer zoned control, meaning you can run units in individual rooms and turn them off in unoccupied areas. This capability can lead to energy savings of about 30% compared to a central air system, resulting in a lower monthly energy bill.

Water buildup in your HVAC system is a cause for alarm. If water accumulates in your ductwork, it can drastically lower your home's air quality and create safety hazards. These risks include mold growth, damage to your HVAC system, and attracting pests that are seeking water into your ducts. Proper insulation and sealing of ducts can prevent this, and regular inspection and maintenance can address water damage problems before they become too severe.

Yesh, heat pumps can easily cool homes when the weather reaches over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, just as powerful air conditioners can. The key is sizing the heat pump correctly for the size of your home and your climate. A local heat  pump professional can help you determine the right size and type for your home.
