Yes, if your roof is in stable condition, you should be able to hang Christmas lights from the eaves. Hang Christmas light directly from the eaves for best results, using light clips or an alternative type of adhesive. When installing lights on your eaves, be sure to work carefully and avoid adding too much weight or pressure to them.

It can be frustrating to see one half of your lights working while the other half is dark. Long strands of Christmas lights often contain more than one circuit. If half of your strand won’t light up, there’s likely a burned-out or loose bulb on that circuit in the strand. Check the strand and replace any loose or damaged bulbs. 

Decorating a tree yourself will only take between one and two hours, but a professional designer may take more time to create their vision. When hiring a pro, assume the work will take a minimum of three to four hours.

No one has figured out a perfect solution to this problem. Tying icicle lights down or adding weights to them can help, but it’s a very time-consuming process and far from foolproof. If your winters are too windy, we suggest simply switching away from icicle lights to straight runs of non-dangling lights along the edge of your roof.

The length of time shouldn’t matter much if you stick with lightweight Christmas lights and similar decorations. Those shouldn’t pose risks to your stucco. You should avoid attaching anything to your stucco that could fall because it’s too heavy, which may take part of the stucco with it.
