"Working with this business was a very good experience from making appointments and removing trees. The two young men who removed my trees did a fantastic job. They listened to my concerns and were very patient with me. They did a terrific job. Clean up was also great. I would highly recommend this tree removal service. I was very pleased."

"We hired Hardscape Plus to cut down a large tree that had split from a storm. The tree was next to a highway that possibly would have fallen into it. Hardscape came out quickly and did an excellent job all the while giving an affordable price! I highly recommend them!"

"The guys from 3M Trees are absolutely wonderful to work with. They actually called and texted when they were going to be late and exactly when they were going to show up. They're friendly, polite, and totally clean up afterwards. Their estimate was less than half of another estimate that I got for the exact same job and they were much quicker to respond. They moved things out of the way for where the tree was going to fall and put it back and totally cleaned up the yard afterwards. It's cleaner than before they showed up. I was impressed with their work ethic and how well they worked together and how pleasant they were. It made the whole thing a very enjoyable process for me. If you need tree work done I definitely recommend these guys."

"It was a fantastic job. They listen to everything we instructed them. They were safe. They did a good job in cleaning after they finished. They were on time. They came when they said they would. And I felt their pricing was reasonable for the work."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Since each tree is different, it’s impossible to say how long a dead tree can remain on your property. While it could be days, months, or even years, it’s highly likely that, at some point, the tree will fall. In the meantime, dying or dead trees can become a haven for pests, so it’s best to have them removed sooner rather than later.

Aside from removing dead or diseased branches, you should prune your trees somewhere between every one and three years. Some people—particularly commercial farmers—prune their apple trees yearly to produce higher yields. This is the best way to promote tree health. That said, the average homeowner can get away with hard-pruning their mature apple tree every other year or every three years.

Completely topping a plum tree is a risky business. Cut too much, and you’ll kill your tree. That said, you do need to trim the top of your tree to encourage bushy growth, maintain your tree’s vase shape, and limit size.

A plum tree's central leader (or trunk) should never extend more than 3 feet above the highest branch. When you first plant your tree, cut the central leader so it’s 2 to 3 feet tall. As it grows, cut it back 12 to 20 inches until it reaches its desired height. Never prune more than one-third of the new growth.

Salt, herbicide, light deprivation, boiling water, and burning can all help dissolve a tree stump. You can also bury the tree stump in soil or mulch to help it rot naturally. Killing a tree stump prevents future regrowth, but you may also remove it by digging it out or grinding it.

The Christmas tree type that smells the best to you will ultimately depend on personal preference. But if that classic Christmas tree smell is important to you, choosing a type of tree known for its scent is a safe bet. Try a balsam fir for a spicy, comforting scent or a Douglas fir for a sweeter smell. You may also like Fraser firs, Scotch pines, and blue spruces.
