"Morning Star Excavating/Camerone and staff are top notch. Very professional and with a good quote which was what it was at the end. He went out of his way to make sure all was completed to our liking for what we needed and also looking forward to future projects making it easier to pick that up at a later date. Always has ideas on how to make it better and stays with the job until completed. Can't say enough good things about his work ethic and quality."

"They got the job done promptly. Of all the companies that gave me estimates the owner was the most thorough and explaining a variety of options fencing. They always came on the days and times they said they would and the fence looks great!"

"Jeff and his crew finished the front and back landscaping of a new house for us. He had great suggestions and listened to our requests and concerns. He was able to complete the job ahead of time before our planned trip. It turned out great and we highly recommend Nova Landworks to others!"

"Dustin was absolutely the best! He was hired by me in March to do excavation and to put in septic and water lines to an outbuilding. Spokane County Health District took 4 months to approve paper work! Under this wait-period most other contractors would have been long gone. Dustin called me frequently to see how the permit process was coming along! I think he felt my pain in working with the County LOL. I never had to chase him down and he always answered nearly every call I made to him. He was at my home and started the work the next day after the permit was approved! This man's integrity speaks for itself. I originally found him on Home Advisor and didn't know him prior to this job. I would highly recommend him and his crew. They did a great job! Contractors like Dustin are rare!"

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Your contractor should handle dust control during the project. It's best to speak with your contractor beforehand to check if they plan to cover your furniture, protect your vents, or use fans to redirect dust. Eliminating drywall dust is a particularly large challenge during construction, so always take this into account during your planning phase.

No, you typically cannot use metal detectors to find your sewer line. Most sewer lines are made of non-metallic materials such as PVC, clay, or cast iron, which are not detectable by standard metal detectors. Metal detectors are designed to locate metallic objects, so they won't be effective for identifying the path of a non-metallic sewer line. To locate your sewer line accurately, it's best to use other methods.

Above ground pools are not buried in the ground. Typically, above ground pools are semi-permanent. One reason they’re more affordable is that you don’t have to dig for an inground pool and pour concrete or another material. However, you can choose to install a semi inground pool, which is a hybrid between the two.

The time it takes to build a pool—and dig out the area—varies based on the pool size and type. A professional excavator will take between four and eight hours to dig a pool. The process will take longer if they encounter large boulders or tree roots. Keep in mind that this is a small part of the process in the long run. You will need between eight and 12 weeks to build a pool from start to finish, including the time to apply for permits.

The cost to drill a well varies, with a national average of around $5,500 for a 150-foot well. However, prices can fluctuate significantly based on several factors, including your location, the required well depth, geological conditions, local regulations, and the specific drilling methods used. For the most accurate cost assessment, it is best to research and get quotes from local well-drilling professionals in your area.
